Like all recent BMW, up close fish eye pictures make the car even worse. These pictures are better in the regard.

No matter how many photos I’ve seen so far, the exterior continues to just be very ho-hum. 🥱 Not terrible but nothing great either, it just seems like one that will blend in with all the other sedans out there especially in a white/silver/grey/black color.

I agree on all points. I almost thought the black rectangle was a placement location for US license plates, but it sits up so high that it would be a odd looking design to break up the kidneys.

I can’t image there being that many sensors that would need that large of a surface area. Even a LIDAR sensor wouldn’t need that much space.

Uh, no, Mercedes has either hidden it behind the star logo or screen printed the sensor with the grille elements to make it blend in. They didn't literally interrupt the kidney outlines and vertical grille slats to jam it in there.

Tough act to follow as the previous gen 5-er was essentially design perfection, but I don’t hate it.

I will say, the shape - particularly the side profile in the rear - makes this look much less sporty and more of what I’d expect from a 7-series.

I agree. They lost their way with some design elemenats. This sensor should be almost invisible in lower bumper. They even don’t have 530i and 540i for Europe! Instead we have 530e and M550e. People don’t want plug-in hybrid and they don’t get it. Me personally, I have no intention to buy more tanks (car heavier than 1700kg). M performance 3 series today weights 1840kg, SUV numbers. It drives like SUV too.
