Contrary to popular belief, most parts converted to plastics have been done for various reasons like such as weight reduction, heat soak resistance, better air flow characteristics, etc and not necessarily cost reduction. An aluminum intake manifold looks nice and all but a plastic one will perform better in every way.

Or just use. Something within its design limit as plastic might actually be better than aluminum for street use. However under track stress and heat it doesn't hold up. For instance i have charge pipes on my F82 for the sole reason that the plastic one tend to crack at hpde. The plastic ones are probably functionally better. Less heat transfer and the option of a more complex geometry. They just don't hold up.

I realize they are already under the VAG umbrella, but when has an IPO ever improved a company's product?

That's the point, they don't.

VAG is raising capital to fund EV development. That's all. They're selling what isn't nailed down to generate cash.

The product will be unaffected, as will current and future Porsche product owners.
