What goes around, comes around...karma is a b!tch.
I used to drive 3 Lexus cars; not one problem with any of them...Toyota/Lexus quality and reliability. However, I'm not a big fan of the IS looks. I hated how the IS350 drove (compared with the 335i and Infiniti G35/37), but as I understand it, the IS-F is a totally different animal. The IS-F is quite fast as a stock sports sedan, but it probably still won't drive quite like the Bimmer. G/L with whatever you decide on; just try to be less of an --- (including not sending threatening PMs to fellow Enthusiast Forum members ) in whichever car you drive next and maybe life will treat you better. Enjoy!!! And, please don't start posting all this b.s. on N54Tech.com so your buddies over there can have a field day and continue their childish name calling b.s. None of you guys actually know me. Although a few JB2/JB3 drivers I had the pleasure of meeting and running with at the track were very cool, and I'm confident they would say the same about me.

It just seems to me sometimes that BMW can't get anything right the first time. When the 335 came out...it had massive fuel pump failures the first year and even now some still do. The 335XI (that i have) costs 52k and comes with a suspension thats as floaty and soft as a Ford Taurus. Where is the Ultimate Driving Machine in that? Now the new M3 is out and has it's shares of problems especially with the DTC and others. When the E60 M5 came out....plenty of SMG failures, just check out their forum. BMW couldn't even get a Navigation and iDrive right until 2009. Can we all agree honestly that our pre 2009 Nav/iDrive is ugly, dumb and slow? Come on... I love BMW, but they need to get real with pricing and reliability. Good choice, man. Lexus builds amazing cars at good prices!

I remember when Shiv was first looking at tunning the 335 was saying that the ECU is sooooooo complicated and complex, especially comparing to the EVO and STI that he was used to tunning....and those are great performance cars. Why can't BMW make something less complex like that, but of course.... with refinement and style? That will be the day!

btw, you are crazy not to go with a M3 at that price. Believe me im not one of the MANY bmw fan boys on this site, but IMO the M3 is just so much better in every way possible

How many hours do you spend at the track out of the 8760 hours that are in a year? A few....Who cares? In the real world they are equal in terms of performance. Also, Lexus is more reliable, the transmission in the IS-F is exceptional and as far as I know they don't have as many problems with it as the new M3 has with the DTC, Nav in the IS-F is better....etc. I'm not bashing the M3 as I would probably buy it over the IS-F, mostly because of the looks....but come on....the IS-F is an excellent competitor at very good price.

Everyone here who bothers to read my posts knows I am not a fan of the E9x M3s.
But I'd still take one over an IS-F. It's not because of the fake exhaust tips (they are still connected to the bumper, YUCK.) or bad reviews on many different publications/programs, it's because Toyota thinks they can just march into this segment with such a piss poor approach and expect success. Cars aren't about numbers and exhaust outlets, it's about the driving experience and prestige. Both of which the IS-F could never touch a C63, M3, or even a CTS-V for that matter. Do yourself a favor and drive a C63 and an M3 before you decide. I know reliability is important to you, but reliability is based on probability. No matter what car you buy there is always a chance it could be a lemon. |

I would agree that it's slower than the IS-F or M3, though in day to day driving one would never notice this, as for reliability, are you serious. I have had 3 BMWs now and owned 5 Audis among others and while most cars I have owned have been into the shop for one reason or another I have always been sorted quickly by the Audi dealership, maybe it's the US Audi network to blame. I personally wouldn't say Audi or BMW are any different in reliability, each are very good and the only bad experience I have had has been from Lexus funny enough. One thing I will say about the experience I have had so far between BMW and Audi is that the Audi dealers give you are car everytime yours is in the shop and you are put on to their insurance (not your own) and all of this is done extra, with BMW you have to ask for a loan car and the one on offer can be anything from a 5 series to a Mini and at a £10 charge, with Audi you never get anything below the same size of car and quite often get bigger. |

I would have to agree with Footie. I was actually going to mention something. Over here Audi's def come at a higher price than Merc/BMW and they hold their value longer. Audi's are really up there with BMW/Merc. Infact, sometimes it's easier to appreciate things like the RS4 because you def always see more M3s around here!

could the things that went wrong with your car possibly be caused from the jb3? What kind of problems are you having? Engine, transmission etc.? What is your driving style like?

Small backseat. Might as well be a coupe. This matters if you're a tall guy (which I think you are from reading some of your other posts). No free maintenance, brakes/rotors would be an issue with me as well. For some reason, Lexus' are super expensive for me to insure. Don't know whether that is the case for everyone but might want to look into that prior to purchase.
The IS-F looks sick in person IMO. Just be prepared for it eating gas and for higher gas prices with the coming inflation/dollar devaluation. |
