There's no reason an X3 should've been delayed two months. They're popping those out like tic tacs. SA included.

Wire looms were being made in Ukraine. As I understand it's very labor intensive.

Good point.
Mercedes just announced that there will be no successors for the A-Class and B-Class, there are not enough profits for these cheap models and they will focus on the more luxurious - and profitable - ones. It will be probably the same for Bmw, the 3-series (or whatever they will call it) will be the new entry level of the brand, if they can't sell as many cars anymore they will focus on the most profitable ones.
We have to be ready for a big change with the arrival of new players from China, starting from the lower range up to... who knows.

In any case, the drop in sales is not due to the design or anything else related to the cars, in Europe the situation is the same and all brands are affected, it's not a good time for many reasons (shortage of components, rising prices and leasing rates, uncertainty about the global political situation). It will be a tough year.

Curious why they don't detail i4 sales. Would love to compare to how many iX's they were able to get on lots.

That's a broad brush. Pretty soon every model will be an "M" of some kind. Remember, "M is for Marketing".

No, design is not the reason for the sales shortfall - it's supply chain related. All you need to do is read the forum discussions about order delays, limited allocations, and options being removed to understand the issue.

The XM honestly… anything but that
IX good tech, but make it appealing.

All these skinny/double lights. Yes it's here to stay, but that's the cause of your sales loss… not production.

It's sad when the g80 only looks good in black….

Lol at this pedantic armchair analysis.

4 series sales are up. The G80 is the best selling M3 of all time. Yes, that’s units moved, not dollars, so you can’t claim markup.

So if you’re waiting to be able to yell “I told you so!” to BMW and have them come crawling back with updated re-releases of the e38, e39 and e46 as brand new models….you’re going to be waiting a long time.

Every car that got purist hate is selling like hot cakes. Even the X7 is up. Wow!

US X3s don't get their wire harnesses from Europe though. Only European plants where shut down because of it.

X vehicles outsold passenger cars by 2 to 1. Increasing X5 sales is not a mistake. The car is nearly perfect. iX product managers: worth visiting X5 design colleagues and take notes.

I was told we would continue to see 4 Series sales numbers rise exponentially due to the design being so bold, striking, cutting edge, captivating and modern. What happened?

People took their blinders off and that grill

I have a G83, so I can make the comment.

Thus why BMW M for the bespoke vehicle chose the XM. It's sad that BMW is now a SUV/SAV company.

Keep in mind, it's not bmw getting those huge marked up prices. It's the dealerships. Bmw only gets the invoice pricing for cars(maybe msrp?).

The biggest thing they have now is they are saving money on no rebates or financing incentives.

Oh I get it. I run the inventory at a BMW store and haven't had a single issue getting an X3 within 3-5 weeks. Only issue has been a few missing options here and there.

Only way one would take a few months is if your store had only South Africa allocations.

Pretty sorry story here. Speaks to the attractiveness of their line-up overall. Watching them on the sidelines lose their game slowly 1 day at a time.
