Is it just me or does that thing ECLIPSE the current-gen CLK?

I think the front looks good. The sides and overall profile are also well done in a coupe-like manner. The rear is gonna make it or break it for me. I'm already anticipating that the taillights will be underwhelming. I'm also not sure about the shoulders on the rear. They look to rounded. The rear bumper is also the epitome of blandness.

I pray to god that there aren't any chrome strips hiding beneath that black tape...I think there are though...

There's chrome strips on ALL mercedes. Okay, maybe not all but 99%.

Why would that change all of a sudden?

Because design trends change. Headlights go from round to blocky, curves become sculpted lines, traditional grilles have been replaced, etc etc.

The C, CLS, SL and SLK don't have them. They look much better without them too.
