Thread in progress. Someone had to do it someday. Just a matter of retrieving decent resolution blueprints (preferably no thumbnails, vector drawings without dimensions, lo-res or watermarked versions). Feel free to suggest if you can locate a good one. Or as indicated in the first post of this thread:

For a proper FAQ about most models: see the (unofficial) BMW ///M Registry here.

After browsing through countless pictures to put this thing together: keeping it to 'lucky finds' on the interwebs.

So I use a vertical monitor and trying to find a white background with the M on it. Anyone have an image that would work?

Very interesting and informative! Thank you for sharing.

I'm really curious how do people get access to electric wiring diagram and every possible details for their specific model and VIN? Is there a database that someone can get access to?

Just for the record, regarding the E36 wheelbase. They are all 270mm, including the M3 3.0.
It's only the M3 3.2 that has a 10mm longer wheelbase (you can see the front wheels not being perfectly centered in the wheel arch/fender).

This is because of the 3.2's specific lower control arm, which gives the car more caster.

I'd be pretty stoked if I saw one of those originals on the street.
