OP: I find it amusing that you feel the need to rev your engine. It appears that you are the one being foolish. Why are you speeding in your neighborhood? If you are, you are putting yourself and others at risk. Even if you arent speeding, why dont you just be the bigger person and stop reving the engine? This is only provoking him.

Regarding the letter: Filming in a public place is not illegal.

If he has never told you directly to stop speeding, how are you certain that is why he is doing all this? Maybe he thinks you guys are just to frugal with your money in this harder times. In any case, when dealing with grumby, stubborn, and close-minded old men. The best tactic is not aggression nor denial, but compliance. Your response to his letter should of been, "Yes, we will stop immediately. Sorry to case you so much trouble." Your pride is getting in the way.

You either have to bite the bullet and appologise for something you don't really think you are guilty of, or you can draw this out, possibly have to appear in court, and continue to deal with this bored old man. To me, the correct option is pretty clear.

Usually when we get home from school/work we see the neighbor sitting on his steps giving us the finger because of speeding and loud cars. This gets us annoyed so whenever we pass him we usually gun it or rev the hell out the engine.
I have confronted him on multiple occasions about being more polite but he reacts with attitude and treats me as I was a kid so I stopped and used immature tactics.
My neighbor secretly recorded me and my siblings doing this and apparently filed a court case against us.
I'm not to sure of the details of the court case but will post once I find out.
Now i need any advice i can get to fight this case and the annoying neighbor.

Sounds like a couple of families of assholes living on the same street. You folks deserve each other.

Actually, recording speech and images are treated differently in many states. This is why many security cameras only take video and not audio.

Actually all my sibling and I, except my sister, pay for our own cars and school tuition. My father just gave each of us 10k down as the down payment and we pay the rest. I assure you we are in no way spoiled brats. We all wake up 6am and come home 10pm mon-sat from school and work. If you knew us you would realize this. In fact, within a month or two I will be selling/giving to my little brother my 335i and purchasing a ferrari F430 with my own money. My company is going ipo and everything is going amazing. And to clarify we do not intentionally speed. Its just how we normally drive. Im sure every one is guilty of speeding in 25mph areas. I went through the letter with other neighbors and a friend of mine who is a cop... They all responded the same way: "the guy is a dick, just ignore him he cant do anything"
What im trying to get at here is I handle matters my own way, this way has gotten me really far in life so far and I think i will stick to it... I shouldnt have even brought the matter here. Sorry for wasting your time.

Well, props to you then (even though I am about 100% sure this is a flat out lie, I don't really care either way). So studying the facts, either you do not have a radar detector built into your sensory organs or my speedometer is off extensively. I doubt the second case is true because I went in for service September 20, 2008 and BMW services didn’t say anything. I can supply the paper work. Your camera recording argument is not valid because at different angles cars appear to be at different speeds, its basic physics
Mr. Crabs, I would like to say that I have as well seen you cause disturbance in kara court. I have seen you giving the middle finger to my siblings and to myself in multiple occasions. Please, you must realize that there are children living in this neighborhood and this type juvenile behavior does not look right coming from a grown man like you. Plus, what message are you giving the wonderful children living in our quiet residential dead-end Kara court. Actions like these slowly bring violence and last time I check all homeowners of Kara court want our community to be safe from violence. I'm sorry that I did not get a recording. I just don’t have the time, determination or effort to set up a camera outside my house recording you (not to mention that its illegal to record someone without their permission/ signing release form) disturbing the peace in our quite and beautiful neighborhood.
What I am getting at here is that if you had asked us kindly, instead of you cursing and giving violent gestures, we would have happily and gladly fulfilled your request and the situation would have never gotten this far. In your letter it states that you have asked us to slow down, yet I never recall you doing so. I clearly remember you showing us your middle finger while yelling out cuss words.
We will fulfill your request, not because we are intimidated by your threats, but it is the right thing to do to keep my neighborhood safe for the children. As a matter of fact when I pass by your house I’ll reduce my speed to 20mph just to make you happy. Maybe happiness will scare away your cursing habits.
