I use to think that Audi had one of the best values out of the major luxury companies (merc, bmw, lexus, etc). I've read some articles that Audi is trying to be the most prestigious car company by 2015. Does that mean Audi is going to be the most expensive while having the slowest cars in their class?
Many examples out there. First of all I am only talking about 1/4 mile because its easier to compare. The 3.2 A4 is about the same price as the 335i, but is so much slower. The new s4 is not even that much faster than the 335i and we all know the tuning abilities of the n54. I really like everything about this new s4. It should do low 13's in 1/4 mile, awd, 20+mpg. To me the styling of the A4 and S4 is much better than the e90 335i. I would like to get the s4, but how do you justify spending 15k more than the 335i? Am I missing something? Hopefully they'll do what BMW does, by making the coupe cost more than the sedan. That would make the s4 start less than 50k, and I might actually get it.. but I doubt it. |

i expect the base price to be little over $48k, if i remember reading http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/22/p...333-hp-of-fun/ correctly. over $7k more than a e90 335xi and over $13k more than a G37x sedan. estimates of course.
well it is what it is, another choice. though, i would definitely not get the first year of this new S4. |

An S4 with DSG and Quattro Sports diff will position this thing in a league above the 335i which in my mind justifies the extra cash and the first comparison reviews will most likely back this opinion up with hard facts.

"...consumers have the opportunity to upgrade this unit to dual-clutch seven-speed S tronic system which offers quicker and smoother gear changes over the conventional system...60% bias going to the rear...Audi's sport differential also adjusts this torque flow when required such as when the car accelerates round corners..." -Worldcarfans

Very nice car, but the corporate/marketing execution is out of touch with reality.
If the S4 sedan will start @ $49k then it's doomed before it even starts selling. S4 seems more of a direct competitor to the 335i than M3... The supposed RS4 is priced even above the M3... WTF is Audi thinking???
