To summarize
We all hate high beam drivers. You had yours on and knew it. Pay the ticket and turn your high beams off next time. |

Lol for 62 bucks? It would cost more just to get a lawyer.
If OP really wants to do anything about it they can go to court on their own and give some explanation to the judge. Usually the judge will drop the ticket a little just for showing up to court. If it does not affect your insurance rates just pay it and be done with all this. |

Literally cant think of the last time I used my highs in either of our current cars.
Just unnecessary. Plenty of light from the lows. If you cant see at night, fix your bulbs, fix your headlight alignment or, get your eyes fixed. Highs are a public nuisance and I'd really love to see them removed from cars as a "feature". Are modern HID or LED bulbs not enough? Especially automatic highs. They dont turn off fast enough. I spend half my night time driving partially blinded thanks to feckless idiots. /rant

OP is a complete utter fool for lacking situational awareness while using high beams. Drivers like you deserve to lose the privilege to drive.
No because we aren't ditzy and clueless while behind the wheel. If you made the decision to turn on your high beams you need to be cognizant to a change in situation where you'll need to turn them off LIKE WHEN SOMEONE IS IN FRONT OF YOU |

That cop gave OP a chance to turn them off, waited a lil bit before pulling you over, consider it a cheap lesson in road safety |

So the LEO passed you on the right? In most states that is illegal...
Just pay the ticket. I doubt there will be reciprocity with your state for such type of ticket. I rigged one of my Pintos with a switch to turn on the reverse lights (I upped the bulb wattage too), when I'd get tailgated. I'm sure you can understand why... |

So the idiot in the left lane going slow you just have to wait behind them the whole time? Makes no sense at all on a multi lane highway Do you mean pass on the right shoulder in the emergency lane? |

In some states or at least in the area I live in, it is illegal to pass on the right. Never used to be a problem when people actually learned how to drive and knew the laws. Because in my driver's ed class, one of the things taught was "drive right, pass left." Now that licenses are just handed out like business cards and any idiot can get a license, it's hard to obey the laws due to others violating laws that are not being enforced.

I never felt the need to use high beam on any modern vehicle especially with projector HID or LED housing. It's almost too bright for me as a driver. I could only imagine what it would do to oncoming traffic. It's like staring directly at a welding flash.

We don't have to worry about that in Cali. It's legal to pass on the right provided there is more than 1 lane of traffic going the same direction. I can't imagine how this isn't legal everywhere, but also not going to search 49 other state's laws to prove someone wrong.
