My Cuban grandparents which live in downtown New Orleans are being stupid and staying. My cousin who lives in the french quarter is trying to work up the courage to drive to my house (she's mentally psychotic)... I hope they all decide to leave. I dont understand. They all left for Katrina and now this storm is stronger and larger and they want to stay?!!

You know people might be thinking "the same thing won't happen twice...."

Hopefully anything is fine....

My old boss is there working with the Corps of Engineers. He had told me there was still a lot of work to be done from the damage caused by Katrina, and that was....3 years ago?

If people refuse to leave, I hope their last few minutes are free of pain because when that hurricane hits.....

Good luck everyone in LA.

To those of you who were ordered to leave and won't, you really should. And I'm putting it very, very lightly. For those of you who remember Hurricane Andrew, it totally raped us here in FL. My friend's neighbor didn't want to leave because she just made an addition the house. When the storm hit, a huge oak tree in her front yard that was hollowed out by termites over time fell on her house when high winds hit. She was pinned inside her house for hours under a collapsed beam and lost both of her legs (no circulation). If you thought Katrina was bad, just wait. I saw on Yahoo! that there is a chance that it could reach CAT 5. So GTFO if you can.

Good luck to all of you. And don't be afraid to arm yourselves.

Gustov is supposed to reach Cat 5 in the ocean, then drop to a Cat 4 when it hits land.

Man that sucks, you all have my prayers.

Our family in Slidell got here last night. I'll be heading down there on Tue or Wed. After Katrina, my team worked out of Gretna and some others from our office worked on Grand Isle - we went to Lake Charles after Rita, too. I'm not sure who's called for help and where we'll go but it's better odds we'll go where we know people again. Our OP order came down today and we've all been told to say goodbye to the families for as long as it takes and the destination is forthcoming.

As soon as I know where we're going I'll post up. If I'll be in your area, I'll be happy to keep either myself or my guys near your property and do the best we can to ensure it's left alone.

Good luck to everyone down that way.
