What do you say to BMW haters?

Couldn't care less if others hate on my car. I'll value their opinion when they help with the payments.

On a separate note, found the most vocal also drive the shittiest/most boring cars. For some reason I get a lot of comments from hybrid owners asking "what kind of mpgs does that thing get?". My response typically is "12 on a good day, how much horsepower do you have?". Usually ends the conversation.

I never experience haters. I do have people ask about or bring up how expensive BMWs are to fix and I just tell them I do all my own work so its pretty cheap.

The only "haters" i run into are the big-truck driving douches. I guess i'm supposed to drive a truck too so they feel comfortable with themselves.

I tell them everything is paid for through the first 4 years, then I say s/t like 'but all the brands probably do that now' so they can tell me how much they pay for a Subaru oil change.

Well, in the mind of 95% of people, owning a BMW, no matter if its a base 3000$ used rwd 323i , or a brand new M5 , means you're mad rich.

So, yeah most stupid people hate BMWs owner or are jealous.

But, imo, owning a rare 10 000$ almost-fully equipped e91 low mileage, and do all my maintenance diy + modding, is wayyyy cheaper than changing a base shitbox ( hyundai accent, versa, aveo, or whats over) every 3-5 years. Car depreciation + insurance is quiet a big lost on new car. And by the mean time, they got bored since they got a shit box.

I have hate quite often because I own ''luxury'' cars, but they are freaking cheaper than a new base mazda 3.

I do have hate on E90 owners tho :

when I was looking for a used e90, almost all owner telling their base e90 was fully equipped... that pissing me off ! not much e90 were sold with all options, its freaking rare. i.e.; In canada only 10 fully loaded 6mt e91 were sold. But 90% of the e91 owners own a fully equipped bmw....

Mind you, these are the same people who drive 20-year-old Fords or Toyotas.

I love my 435i. Its my baby and i cant get enough of the drive! But, I'm trying to understand the negative logic behind their hate toward BMW.

I actually own a Toyota Camry as a daily driver and it sucks. Glad it's reliable, but I couldn't see it as my only car.

It's not about liking it for some people. Some people are just not into cars. It's just a device to get to work, school etc. Like my mom who doesn't see any need to test drive a car. It looks nice, has bluetooth, a backup camera and it moves... it's good to go.

That's like someone from the sneakerhead thread trying to tell me why I should spend more than $30-40 on a pair of sneakers when my cheapo sketchers are comfortable and get the job done. I have zero interest in the intricacies of sneaker design, or for that matter washing machines, or refrigerators.

At track days or car shows/meets etc I’ve never ran into a “hater.” Only on the inter webs and biased fan boy owners no matter the forum. It isn’t unique to BMW or here at BP.

OP what do you say to BMW on BMW hate? I’ve seen more vitriol between BMW owners here than anything else. M2 vs M4 or the great M3 E9X vs F8X M3/4 wars that still come up from time to time.
