so if i dyno and become a vendor then i have a real product? sure he could do that and raise the prices to just break even to give people a good deal. but that would defeat the purpose dude. i dont think you get the point of why they were made.

What YOU don't seem to get is that the swoop scoops this other guy is selling are also making him money, whether he is only making a small % or more... he's still making money, which is why I made this preposterous thread in the 1st place... to make fun of that fact. It would be totally different if this guy said. Hey, here is a way to make these things, go buy this, that and some of these... put um together and there ya go. He's not. He's making them and then making money on them which is the only reason the fact he has no R&D or a legit company is even an issue... which in the long run, lets him make a higher % of profit. even though he sells his for less, that doesn't mean RPi is making more $, he's just recouping the costs for all the R&D he paid for up front. I have no issue with you "reviewing" a product, but when you do that, and people PM u or ask where you got them and you refer them to him, then it becomes less of a review and more of promoting his little operation which is against the member policy on this site since he isn't a vendor. He has no outside source selling these things so you can say "oh I got them on www.swoopscoops.com" or something more legit like JleviSW or BavAuto, you end up referring them right back to him. On top of that, he was on here promoting his own product like CRAZY, posting in every forum (most of them the wrong forums at that) about his product. What he did is smart because he's eliminated the middle man thus doesn't have to charge as much, but that doesn't make it better or the right thing because he is ignoring the rules. I promise you if he did sell through bavauto or jlevi his prices would be almost if not just as high as RPi's. Is this really that hard for you to understand? Maybe you should go take a business class or economics at your local community college and get back to me then. |

So whats the big fucking deal? He made the scoops for himself. Posted shots of his work and people were interested because the RPI ones are over priced. I think the real issue is that someone is making money that you feel shouldn't be. Well its not the first time someone in their garage decided to turn a hobby into a form of income, maybe you should retake econ. And can you please stop talking about all the R&D stuff, its fucking metal air scoops, how much R&D do you need? And with all that R&D that RPI did they still weren't able to come up with a way to mount them without drilling into your car, nice R&D. |

i don't agree with the way he is going about it because its not legit for this site. Let him sell his product to a vendor. His prices WILL go up because the vendor will make money on his scoops. OR he could make a legit company and just become a vendor on here. either way, he skipped a step (one that requires a decent amount of time and effort) and thats why I'm upset. I'm not saying RPi is the only one who can make these types of things... they are just the only ones making them the right way so its pretty bogus how other members "review" his poorly named product on here which ultimately turns into more sales for what seems like an basement operation. |

You are not a dumb person i can see that i just think you are over looking what is going on here. They will be promoted and sold in the right fashion. |

and thats fine when they are... but until then, its kinda unfair to RPi that they are still being sold in a sort of "black market" fashion on here... which is why I'm sticking up for them.

After seeing the demand, he is looking at either becoming a vendor on this site or using a distributor. All of this still does not mean he has broken any forum rules yet, he posted his work not as an advertisement but as a "look what I made, what do you think" thread. Give the man time, I am sure this has turned out much bigger than what was intended. I am going to put up a DIY on how to intergrate a smg knob in a e92 step, should I get vendor status now incase people want my wiring harness? See the logic? |

I don't need intake scoops, that's old. I want some exhaust scoops, I want to redirect my exhaust gasses upward so I can get more downforce in the back and improve aerodynamics. If you steal my idea I swear I'll sue you.

Yes I understand all of that... I'm a smart guy, I can comprehend that the 1st 3 times people have explained it all to me. what I am saying is he HAS sold them to members and although his intent wasn't to advertise them (which is a little fishy since I saw a bunch of the posts) he is still selling to members via this site, which shouldn't be allowed, at this present time. Quote:
if people PM you and say "hey dude, can i get one of those harnesses you made" then your answer will reflect on your intent. option 1. "yeah man, I'll make you one for $50 and send it to you. - you would need to become a vendor, i don't see how that couldn't be considered "vending" option 2. "well man, I made it just for my install so I'm not making them to sell be here is how you could make your own using these items and following this process". - you arent selling anything but you are helping people out. see the swoop scoops would be fine if he was 1. handing them out for free or 2. giving us a DIY on how to make them ourselves. the minute he gets paid to do it from someone who saw it on here and doesn't know him personally... then YES HE SHOULD BECOME A VENDOR! any more questions? cuz this is getting really old that NOBODY gets this. its a simple solution... tell the guy to fucking pay the $15 bucks and just get "vendor" under his username... then all of this goes away and if RPi thinks there is some kind of copyright infringement or whatever... they can deal with that off the site between themselves. |
