People driving around with their front fog lights on doesn't bother me compared to those blinding me with their high beams, and to a lesser extent, those with their rear fog lights on. That said, I really don't know why people drive around town with their fog lights on unless the conditions warrant it. Around town, there is so much light pollution, I don't see how having extra lights on even helps. I think some people want to use all of the features of their vehicle regardless of need or perhaps just "look cool."

I believe so. We do get some fog here on the coast line but it's never really been so severe that I couldn't see somoene's regular brake lights/running lights. Honestly, I think most people just do it because it looks cool and is "euro" versus any sort of safety play.

That's exactly the purpose, so other drivers can see the rear of your vehicle in low visibility conditions. It can actually be quite useful when conditions permit, otherwise it is an annoyingly bright light that shouldn't be left on all of the time like I see many people doing.

I put my fogs on during dark nights or during rain to illuminate the lane lines better. Here in NYC/NJ idiots everywhere have their brights on in traffic, highway, everywhere.. |

Well, a further slight hijack of this thread. I don't understand why they don't use that highly reflective paint here (NYC/NJ) like they do in say Florida. Last Thursday morning in the dark and the pouring rain I couldn't see the lanes - at all. If we had good markers, I wouldn't need to put my fogs on in the morning.

In my e46, I drive with my fog lights on at all times. I do it because I think it looks cool just like the poster above said and I do it so that people can see me. What bugs me more than anything is people that drive without their headlights on when it's raining. So you see, lights are not just for illuminating the road, they are also handy for others to see you as well. At least if they are blinding you, you know their dumb asses are there, haha.

First: OP, please don't complain about something you don't understand. Learn about it first, THEN complain if it still bugs you.
Front fog lights = not blinding by design. Most are mounted under the front bumper by design. Many in Europe and Japan are tinted yellow by design. France mandated a similar yellow on most cars' low beams by design until the late 1970s. Rear fog light = only one, on the driver's side, on most cars by design. Driving lights = far, far, FAR different from fog lights. These are what you should be complaining about. Second: As noted by other posters, please learn how to spell 'peeve'. That's almost as big of a pet peeve of mine as those who spell the contraptions that stop your car 'breaks'. :: sigh ::

aka stock bulbs and ride height
Lifted trucks+Aftermarket HIDs in fogs=blinding. We have lots of those in Oklahoma I find people driving with their high beams on to be even more annoying here.

On another note, its also stunning how many cars I see driving with NO headlights on. I would say once or twice a week on my commute home around evening/dusk time I see a car on the highway with no lights on when its almost completely dark out and the lights should 100% be on. |

If the low beams turn on, I almost always turn the front fogs on. I should code them so they just come on along with the low beams. They are not blinding .. and help to illuminate a part of the road that the low beams don't get.
I almost never use the high beams. The rear fogs on the US models are there, you have to hack up the button so it can be pressed and code them to enabled. I've used them a handful of times in snowy conditions, and once when some lady was riding 2" behind. |

If someone comes at me with high beams (or equivalent) on...then I have to turn my high beams on.

While I don’t disagree with the OP I think we are expecting too much from the majority pedestrian drivers here in the US who would be better served by an autonomous Camry that stayed in the right lane and observed all law and mutual considerations.
