Pearl #1. My dad told me that it's 1 person in a thousand that enjoys their job. Suck it up, or do something about it. You get what you settle for. (He said this when my sister quit a few jobs in a row). It's a paycheck, so you can go do fun things after work.
Pearl #2. Things that aren't worth doing, aren't worth doing well. Keep your job in perspective. Pearl #3. You miss 100% of the shots you don't take (Gretsky?) Last edited by Neurorad; 07-17-2008 at 01:15 PM.. |

I wanted to be an astronaut or pilot.
I started flying lessons when I was 10 years old and that died quickly with me only doing three lessons. During highschool, I really never knew what I wanted to do with my life. I'm 21 now and have changed drastically from my highschool days. I'm majoring in Business now, because I have a keen interest in business, just not sure what kind. I mean Business is what makes the world go round...

^ I count all day!
What I really yearn for is to be able to travel... any travel. I work and work and work. Put some sleep and food in there and that's all I do. I know I am not alone but damn time is running out.

Wow, this is a funny topic, just yesterday i was talking about this to a couple mutual friends.
I always wanted to be a race car driver, i raced Karting professional from age 5-12, then went to citroen open wheel racing 12-15 and did very well, after that reality kicked in, and i had to step away from the racing experience and doing some racing on the side. At age 17 i got the chance of my life, to drive a F 3000 car. Its a step down from F1, i did alot of testing for jaguar, and then i got into an accident that ruin my racing career at the peak of my career. So i had no back up plan, (yes i know i was stupid), so i always wanted to be a VET, and that didn't quite work, so now I'm a Civil Engineer. I guess i didn't do to bad... |

I've always wanted to do meteorology, but I've always been able to work magic with computers. I do EVERYTHING with computers. Hardware, software, networking, servers, clients, Windows, Mac, Linux, etc.
My first job I can ever remember wanting to have was a cashier at the grocery store. After my mom explained that they don't get to keep all that money, that dream faded quickly. After that it was to be a Storm Chaser, which I still today would LOVE to do, but instead, when I went to THE BEST METEOROLOGY SCHOOL IN THE WORLD... I said Computer Engineering first. I still hate myself today for that. I should have declared major in Meteorology and minor in computers. I'm only 23 so if I were smart I'd find a way to get into meteorology now before it's too late, but I've tried to get back to school and I just don't have the money for it. I already have enough loans to pay off, I don't need more. I need to move back to Oklahoma and try to get into some the meteorology field as a computer guy, and see if I can further my education there. I don't even know how to describe it, but you have no idea how I feel when a storm is rolling in. I've got radar software and everything on my computer so I can make my own views and watch it all, of course... being in NC, it's always disappointing. Dammit... why am I not doing something with meteorology?!?!

You don't like Texas, I know. But we sure do have some great storms. Growing up in south central Texas I would go out on our porch when a storm came through. Lay on my little towel and take a cat nap with thunder, lightning and sometimes hail all around me......I still do just the towel is now a lawn chair.
Thought about meteorology too.
