I think everyone has tell you that you need to take the MSF Course. Everything else is up to you. Make sure that you are completely focused when riding. If you are careless you will kill yourself in a 125, a 600 or a 1000, the size of the bike sometimes is irrelevant, is the rider actions what matters. Ber really careful twisting the throttle and releasing the clutch. Respect the bike and its power. And last but not least make sure that you dress for the crash, not for the ride. Always wear gloves, riding jacket, helmet, riding pants and boots. If you fall, that gear can make the difference between walking away from a crash or getting seriously injured, maybe death.
Besides that, riding a bike is one of the most ejoyable things you can ave do. Once you learn it becomes addictive.

I have a Kawi ZX-7R and love it. I would like to move to a newer 600cc bike though, an older bike would be a good started (cheap insurance and much cheaper bike)

I had a guy back into my lane me at a lake party.. I was doing about 30 mph. I laid it down and the bike stuck under his car. I'll never forget that guy bitching at me because I could not get it unstuck fast enough for him. Like an ass I was wearing sandals and kept slipping. I was only about 25 he was about 40. Took the MSF course and highly recommended. Definitely learned a lot that I didn't know and I love that its hands on with all the different courses and situations with cones, braking, swerving, etc that they teach you.

I want to get either an R6 or a CBR 600rr (used) but then again every time I think about all the truly shitty drivers including soccer moms, "bros" with their monster trucks, or ditz females with their c-class benz's it makes me think twice.

I've been told that there are 2 types of bikers ones that have been down, and ones that are going to go down. Agree or disagree?

I highly recommend the MSF class...but you have to act quick as they fill up FAST! You sound pretty insecure about riding, so I would spend $600 to buy a '85 Honda 800 or so. This will give you a chance to practice, and not feel bad about dropping it. You can always sell that same bike for the same price you paid while you get your R6.

I had a '04 GSXR750 and loved the bike---until a car made a left turn on my green light and totalled it. I was out of work for 7 weeks with a broken collerbone. As soon as I healed, I bought a '05 Yamaha Warrior 102cu in (1670cc). I think you would have more fun, and more looks on the warrior then on the R6. Either way, be safe and good luck.

Agreed. Every biker I know took a spill at one point. Some died in accidents, while others just scrapes and bruises.

i had an 07' r6 as my first bike and it's nice but it's not really that comfortable. i think the gixxer is a more comfortable bike to cruise in but the r6 looks a lot better. if you have 7 really good friends with bikes already, i'm sure they will go at your pace if you ride with them. if you need to chase them, then they're just dicks and one mistake and it's over. good luck man and like everyone said...take the MSF course

Here is mine.

Just picked up 2 weeks ago.

Black and silver R6 look so boring in real life. Thats why I got the blue one.

Good bike so far. I have also driven Honda CBR 600RR and Ninja gsxr 600.

But in design-wise and performance-wise, R6 is the best.

I was deadly wanted R1 but I wasn't too sure that I can handle 1000cc bike.

Even my R6, which is 600cc, is hard to handle sometimes.

Its got the plenty of power on the road and always runs faster than I want.
