I recently bought a 2017 DCSB TRD Off-Road 4x4. I got it with the 6MT to avoid the issues of the new automatic transmission. I thought about picking up a used 2nd gen, but they hold their value so well it made more sense to spend a little more and get a new vehicle with a warranty.

First post, just signed up here looking for an M3. I have an '08 Tacoma that I'd like to sell but it's hard to get an idea what to list it for. It seems like everyone is asking way more than book so maybe I'll start high and see if anything happens.

Same here. Had an 8 week wait for the manual. Nice vehicle and so far (3,200 miles), so good. Got some good aftermarket accessory information from Tacomaworld, but I'm more of a lurker there than a participant.

Yeah, I had to put an order in and wait for the manual as well, which was worth it. Tacomaworld has been a wealth of information.

If you decide to get one with a manual, be prepared to place an order and wait anywhere from 6-12 weeks for it to arrive. The dealers only seem to keep the automatics in their inventory.

I have a 2nd-Gen 07' Taco Access Cab TRD Sport 6-cyl in Speedway Blue and I absolutely love this truck. I only have 65K miles as I barely drive her.

I test drove the current gen Tacoma and imho it was almost undriveable... the tranny and engine are just not with the times at all.

My brother just bought a white '17 TRD PRO 6MT. It's a great looking truck but I wouldn't want to drive it everyday (which he does).

I am guessing you drove one with the automatic transmission? There are ongoing complaints and issues about the auto constantly hunting for gears on the Tacoma forums. Some of the problems were caused by trucks low on ATF from the factory. Fortunately, those issues are non-existent if you get the manual, there is still the issue with the drive by wire throttle not responding to pedal input as one would expect. It seems Toyota really tuned the new engine and transmission combo for fuel economy with disregard to drivability. The hope is the aftermarket will be able to address the issue with different tunes.

Picked up a TRD OffRoad 6MT yesterday. Total wait time was fortunately only a tad more than one week, as the dealer was able to find an unallocated truck just finishing up at the factory.

I have an '07 - bought it new.
Currently it has 75k on the clock. 6MT, 4x4 non-TRD package, 4 door. Only mod is the stereo system - Alpine head unit with JL Audio speakers, Amps for Mids/tweets and the two 10" subs in the stealth box behind the back passenger seat. I'm not on any Toyota truck forums. |

That's awesome man, congrats! Concerning the drivability issues people have with the factory tune, there is a company called OrangeVirus Tuning which now has a tune available addressing many of the issues. They are continuing to fine tune it, and there is a massive thread about it over at the tacoma world forums. Do you have any plans for the truck, or will you be keeping it stock?
