The Mustang interiors were better but still crap compared to just about everything else. But I test drove a new GT premium and it was a great driving car but still not for me. The Charger and Challenger interiors were actually vastly improved, but the cars themselves felt like boats.
Stop being a hater bro. Any type of criticism hurts our feelings.

Amen. It's always been crazy to me that BMW sells the M235i "M Performance" model with an open diff. Even the 6-cylinder Camaros and Mustangs have limited slip diffs as standard equipment!

And don't even compare the ZL1 or 1LE sound, acceleration, or lap times with a 2 Series.

I have yet to see a 6th gen 1LE or ZL1 on the road. Doesn't mean there aren't any, but it does mean they aren't "everywhere" because they're not where I live.

I finally bought a BMW after owning nothing but Mustang and Camaro manual V8 cars since 1980. No doubt the BMW interior is higher quality, but it's not like it's made from magic fairy dust. It's fine, but still has its share of black plastic. I drove a 6th gen 2SS Camaro recently and also sat in a 6th gen 1LE on a dealer's lot, and I don't see the interior as horrible. I preferred the gauges on the 1LE to be honest, because they're customizable. I also preferred the Alacantra flat-bottomed wheel and shifter to the wheel and shifter in my M235i. Plus the 1LE had suede Recaros standard. And the tech - I mean what other car in this price range has a Performance Data Recorder built in?!

Like you say, it's personal preference, but I found the 1LE interior far from horrible. And no doubt the ZL1 is better.

You mean how you sit around halfway between the wheels? I had a gen 5 SS and I've had a few german cars now. I'm not sure anything is better with the german cars interior-wise, in fact, I think several things were better with the camaro. I like the digital speed display better (in addition to the classic looking conventional that it still had). Heated seats work about the same, but seats were overall better in the SS, I'm not sure why people have a hard-on for BMW sport seats, they are better than the standard ones, but nothing to write home about. Door release works exactly the same. Frameless windows work exactly the same. Rear visibility exactly the same as my 4 4GC. Steering feel much better, not even on the same planet. Short throw shifter feels great, admittedly some people couldn't get around the skip-shift, but if you want to it's easy, rev it higher, otherwise with so much torque I rarely ever shifted 1-2-3-4-5-6, just no reason to, thing loved to purr along at 1000rpm. Admittedly, there are people that don't like riding low in sports cars, they want to ride upright like in econo-boxes or the BMW 3-series sedans they are used to. This definitely isn't a car for those people, they should stick to sedans and upright minivans. So it usually boils down to "it's got plastic!", which is a huge problem when that person finally realizes the car they daily drive also has plastic, but until then, they are happy to be in denial. It's not going to be outfitted like a luxury 5 series obviously, nor how bat-crazy porsche interior options get, but you don't get the car to get pampered, you get it to drive.

Actually I sat in 6th gen. Camaro and interior was on par with similarly priced BMW's, besides the leather was actually real (not fake leatherette found in 3/4-series) and Camaro had more standard equipment.
I'm not really sure why BMW fans trash other manufacturer interiors, and particularly not premium brands. BMW (as a premium brand) have been cheapening materials/interiors in most lower class models.

You can put the keys in the cubby behind the screen and get car complains the keys aren't in the car. They're literally inside the car and it complains.

Looks are one thing and this looks to be better than the prev gen, but a picture doesn't do reality justice 99% of the time.

I continually harp about interior quality. Doesn't matter what it is and I try to be as objective as I can as well.

To the point of this car, yeah, they spent coin on its performance and probably cut corners on the interior. But again, the interior isn't exactly what this car is about is it?

great low end torque and sound

i disliked those aspects of my c7 and this is probably only worse

This is totally subjective because I drove a fully loaded brand spanking new SS and hated the interior, honestly there is nothing really that I can say I liked about it. Where as a buddy has a brand new M2 and another a new M240i and I love them both.

Are you referring to quality or interior layout? I agree interior layout is subjective, but like I said, the quality of materials in Camaro is comparable (if not better) to low class BMW models.

The materials were okay I guess, it was more the ergonomics that bugged me. Especially the shifter, it felt like I was holding a softball.

It's a lot easier to improve the Camaros interior then it is trying to get a BMW to handle or accelerate like the Chevy. Plus the Camaros have a lot more technology in them.
