Escalade EXT. That was before everything went to hell in 2008...everyone had to have their truck/SUV on giant wheels to go along with their sports car or land yacht. I got it to be different from everyone with their Hummer H2s LOL. And yes, it was on 24"wheels. Chrome with color matched faces.
It could have been worse. My friend bought a Lincoln Blackwood Last edited by TheNus; 02-12-2017 at 03:01 PM.. |

I regret not waiting to buy my car at a lesser price and finding a better color combination and options.
The Nissan Frontier I had was a pretty lame purchase, was decent at offloading though.

Two come to mind.
CHrysler Neon, knew nothing about local cars when i landed here in 2002 so bought the cheapest thing I could find. It was horrible, such a shop queen, car was incredibly poorly made. 1969 Alfa Giulia Coupe, the car itself was fine but i was very young and would have otherwise put the money down on a house in Sydney, yes the Sydney that now has some of the highest median house pricing on the planet. I figure it cost me about $800K in lost appreciation, not the car's fault but yeeeeeahhh. |

Every AMG I ever had.
2015 S550 that was lemoned after 3 months with tons of brake issues. I always convince myself that I should give MBZ another shot and is the perfect comfortable DD to get shot in the foot over and over again.

1979 Ford Granada (1985)........My dad bought it for me (though I paid for 1/2) through a friend after we discovered my Subaru was sold to me with a cracked block. That Ford was a bad car. REAL bad. I actually wanted the Subaru back.
1981 280z (1990)........I traded in my Bronco II 4wd 4 months after getting it after I totaled my Merkur. I wanted back in a sports car. The 280z was a HUGE disappointment. 2011 Maxima.......2 words.....Torque Steer. Otherwise it was a nice car, but I wish I had spent the money on another G35. |

No. I haven't regretted any of them. Maybe its because I researched first and bought second, or possibly because I'm easy to please when it comes to cars, I don't know. I even liked my 1974 Mustang II hatchback and I think that's on the top 100 worst cars or something.
I, too, was surprised by the number of BMWs on the list; didn't see that coming. |

My current M4 F83. I traded in my 650i F12 after only 1,5 years of ownership. Thought the M4 would give me a more planted, more connected feeling (after owning a M3 E93 before). I was wrong .

My 2008 Lexis IS350. I hated everything about it. It felt cheap and tinny, the engine was whiny and annoying, the tech was abysmal, and it was incredibly boring to drive. Hated it.

I had a 2005 Sti that I bought new at the time and owned it for 4 years. I loved the car and didn't really have any regrets about the car itself. But when I look back, I kind of regret that I didn't get the Evo IX instead. I went with my brain instead of my heart (based on long-term reliability ratings). But I really thought (and still think) that the Evo was the better looking, more fun, and desirable car. Turns out they were pretty darn reliable too, as was my subi. Econo box or not, seeing a pre-X gen Evo is still an event for me to this day.

2008 Lexus LS 460. I wanted an E550 but went with what was supposed to be the smarter choice. Not only was it boring but I had more problems with that car than any since I stopped driving American cars with lots of miles on them. I got rid of it after 3 years.

The title was vague enough that I will jam this into the discussion - the purchase I most regret was when I helped my father pick a 1996 Mercedes E320 when his other option was a E39 540. We've never had "bad cars" per se, but sometimes missed out on great ones for things that were just ok.

The steering wasn't too bad on those, certainly no E90 but it had some weight to it. I'm not a fan of the driving position. Even at the lowest level, your eyes are like 70% up the windshield (and I'm barely 5'10"). It seems like a car that was designed for short asian women. It's very narrow too so it can feel claustrophobic.

I haven't regretted any purchase yet, but as each car purchase becomes more expensive and exclusive, I notice myself analyzing my decisions more, and 2nd guessing myself. I think as the price increases I really don't want to get it wrong, obviously more at risk if you make a mistake and need to unload it. Oddly enough my used Nogaro Blue A4 I bought on a whim has been my most memorable buy, and the cheapest!

I have owned close to 40 cars and have had my share. My last regret was a 2014 Audi A4 since it had a variable transmission. Couldn't keep it even a year.
Another regret was a Lexus ES300 which drove like a Cadillac which was fine but not at the time. |

2010 Genesis Coupe 3.8 Track. Bought it new & got rid of it less than a year later. It had bs issues, trans was junk, build quality was horrible...
I'm also starting to regret buying this Z06. Not because of anything with the car itself. Just because I, apparently, can't even give it away. |

Never, but I only bought 2 in my life thus far, hard to screw that up lol. Still, it would've been quite a costly mistake so I try to be careful before buying, you know, w/ them being depreciating assets and all. That being said, my 1st car Acura RSX was freaking BULLETPROOF. Nothing wrong w/ it at all. Heck, the only thing that broke down in it was the radio, and that was 3rd party (Pioneer, I think?) not Honda haha. As for the Z4, still great despite paying ~$4k out-of-pocket for the usual suspects of things that go wrong. Can't beat the ride quality/performance and I was well aware before committing, so I definitely Brought My Wallet lmao.
