His appointment is today at 6:30 EST. I'm sure the TDi forums will be a buzz with the outcome

VW has a defined period of time to resolve this, or then buy back the cars. VW has also stated they are not pursuing diesel cars in the US. Why would they continue to invest in a technology they will no longer pursue...? All 2.0 CR TDi's from 2009-2013 do not have a SCR system and the cars would require in excess of $10k per car to modify. AND.....the car must not exhibit any degradation of MPG or performance after modification. Not sure you have all the internet facts....but I'm fairly confident in my information as the owner of a 2.0 and 3.0 TDi. |

I sold my Passat TDI literally days before Dieselgate broke. Sold it to Carmax for a very good offer and actually more than what I had in mind.
Two weeks after Dieselgate I called the same Carmax and asked if they were accepting TDI cars and they flat out told me NO. Hahaha I still get the occasional legal mailer with a red label saying recall notice despite calling VW and saying I no longer own the car. |

I clearly articulated the non/fixable cars will be crushed. Regardless if VW strips the cars the same as the article in the OP, then crushes the remnants of the basic power train and frame. |

Cant imagine having that much pent up hate over a situation where VW is coughing up a nice chunk of change to take back cars |

There is nothing that requires VW to crush any of the cars and the article I posted says many of them won't be crushed.

There are a lot of people waiting to see if this will work or not. If it does, then he exposed a loophole everyone will want to jump in on. Now theres an influx of passat and jetta parts sitting in storage. Replacement prices go down due to supply and demand, and that gentleman is now left taking up realestate.
Economicals class 101. He should have kept it a secret and bought all your turds on the cheap and built an empire. |

The overwhelming majority of these cars cannot be fixed without substantial investment from VW. These cars cannot be sold unless they are fixed. VW is no longer pursuing diesel in the US and Canada. You really think they are storing these cars for some future benefit or sale...? |

Once an approved "fix" is avail many/most vehicles will be repaired and resold where its economically feasible to do so Most of the Gen1 cars will likely be stripped for parts/crushed due to age and mileage Many Gen2 cars (up to 2014) will be fixed and resold based on economical viability ALL of the 2015's will make their way back onto the road as the fix is going to be negligent and probably s/w only and they are much lower mileage and in better condition....unless there's 6k in parts missing from the car that is...... |
