Go to TRF and buy from an individual for the best results. With references from them you will be ok. That budget will get you a nice 16610 or a Ceramic Sub no date or a Ceramic Sub date without boxes and papers.

Did you ever buy your Rolex? I am in the market for a submariner and was wondering where you may have purchased and how the experience was online? Thanks

tourneau has certified pre owned. the watch is inspected and then sent to manufacturer for service. comes with a 2 year warranty. you'll pay a little but more but its worth the assurance you have a 100% legit piece. they have a 10% holiday discount for cpo right now

Only Rolex can give you the 5 year Rolex Warranty. Got my SS Daytona from Rolex 2 years ago for no more than online.
I would not buy a used Rolex online. Only if they had a store front in case there is a problem and I need warranty work done (Rolex will void any warranty if not bought at a Rolex retailer. I think Bob's Watches does have a brick and mortar store somewhere.

This is partially true and AD's will tell you if you do not buy directly from them you are not covered blah, blah. Obviously, they want your business so they use those that scare tactic. If the watch was purchased at an AD then the remainder of the warranty is transferable to the new owner(regardless if you bought the watch directly from the original owner or a reputable reseller). The key words here are reputable and so as long as the watch has not been modified or worked on by a non Rolex service center you are fine. I have bought from both AD's and online sellers like DavidSW. The chances you will need warranty work are slim and in fact only warranty work I ever needed was on a ceramic Omega PO that I bought from a friend who bought it from someone else. My current 16610 sub is over 10 yrs old and has not been serviced yet though I do rotate my watches. The only Rolex watch I would consider buying(and currently on a wait list) at an AD are the new hard to get watches like the new ceramic Daytonas or new releases as pricing online will be the same or marked up. All others Rolex models can be purchased new or LNIB with papers and warranty for a significant savings. FWIW if you need warranty work send it to the Dallas RSC and not the New York one. There have been horror stories from that place but that is another story. If you want to keep the value in your Rolex avoid, dings and gouges to the case and when it needs service keep avoid refinishing and keep it to a minimum if it has to be refinished. Keep the dial, hands, bezel etc original especially for the vintage watches which Rolex does not like to service and do like to replace even if they don't have to. Their philosophy is to return the watch looking brand new but the worst thing you can do is replace a tritium original dial with a replacement service dial. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info...all good stuff. My problem is I want it to look as new as possible, but CPO pricing...If buying PO from an AD, I would get remainder of factory warranty if applicable or whatever warranty the AD offers on PO watches?

I am not far from a Tourneau brick and mortar as they have a store in Atlanta I think.

Sounds like you're set on PO, but if you decide to go new, the Tourneau in Atlanta doesn't sell new Rolex timepieces.

I am not set on PO, just weighing all my options. Good to know about Tourneau though. Thanks for the heads up. Have you purchased from them?

Thanks, I am looking at their site right now...they even have a 10% off, whether it will work or not with what I want, time will tell.

I am starting to debate between the Yachtmaster and Submariner now...hmmm sometimes it is good to have tough choices! LOL

I also just joined rolexforums.com...

I am looking to buy a new Datejust 2. The MSRP is $7,150.
So far I have one AD doing $6,450 - what would be a good selling price for this watch?

Do you guys recommend any AD's in NJ/NY.

I have purchased from Tourneau but not from the Atlanta location. Service was ok. I had them ship to my home out of state to dodge the sales tax. I was incredibly annoyed that it was shipped without requiring a signature. I woke up one morning to find my $10,000 timepiece sitting on my front porch.

Thanks--That is exactly what I was thinking about shipping to my other address, but my other address is in NY where they are also...could ship to my one of my brothers in CT or IN.

Sucks shipping without signature...I know when I ship Fedex anything over $500 insurance requires a signature, but I guess I could cancel if necessary...crazy though.

Maybe signature was required and UPS breached protocol. Not really sure who was at fault. I got the timepiece without incident so that's all that matters.
