What does your dad drive to get such nice loaners? I didn't know they did any of those cars as loaners. Maybe sometime when I take my car in they will hand me the keys to a new M5 because that's all that's left. And I'll get to drive one a decade before I could afford one. :P

I ordered my car in mid January, and it will get here around March 10th. My dealer gave me a 2002 525 Touring (step) absolutely free of charge until my car arrives, now that is service

However, the car still sucks and I want MY car now!!

Once, I went in for a service and since the dealer didn't have any loaners left, the owner was ultra amazing and gave me the keys to his 360 Modena.

Then I woke up.

I just dropped my car off this morning. They gave me an X3. It is ok, but I wouldn't buy one. I don't really care for SUVs anyway.

Does Chambers even have loaners? They delivered my friend's 3 in front of the dumpster with little/no orientation.

Chambers has loaners, but they are very selective of who and what they give to you. They too do the enterprise rental car approach.

Me: 4 times with bmw loaners (05 X3 and 06 325). What I needed to do was to call Enterprise a few days before my service date to reserve a BMW. That's it. I got it every time.

I just had a 320d the last few days as my 5 was in for some work. Very surprisingly, I couldn't wait to get back in my car.

I'm second guessing my E90/91/93 purchase now

We have all BMW loaners at Baron BMW in Kansas City. We're converting most of the fleet over to E90s now. There is probably only about 6-7 E46s (some sedan, some coupe) left. We also use X5s, X3s, E60s (sedans and wagons), a couple Z4s and one 7. Who gets what is left up to the luck of the draw or if the customer requested a certain car before arrival.

It's sickening the way the loaners get treated though. "Hey! They just gave me a brand new 3 series with 20 miles on the clock. Lets go do burnouts and some top speed runs." We also post 'No Smoking' signs in all of our loaners. When people come back and have smoked in one, I want to beat the ever living piss out of them. The way the interiors get trashed is unbelievable too. Damage too: I've seen cars come back with bumpers smashed in/knicked up as well as damage in other places.

Before gas prices went through the roof, there was no charge for using one of our loaner cars. For the last year though, there has been a $10 charge. Not $10/day, but just $10 for the entire time your vehicle is in service. This system is abused constantly. I've requested time and time again that stiffer penalties need to be set for customers that abuse our cars.

So yes, never buy a used vehicle that was a loaner car. You might save some money up front, but in the long run after how these cars are treated brand new it wouldnt be worth it.

sidenote: We, too, use Enterprise but only in rare circumstances where we're low on loaner cars. I say that is rare because our loaner car fleet consists of approx. 81 various BMWs.

If that's the case then i guess i was lucky. 19yrs old here and my dealer threw an E90 too. Took it there for the lighting up of the seat belt warning and thought it would be done on Friday but they called in the afternoon and told me to wait for their call on Monday.
(The crap thing is i forgot and left my iPod and my passport in my car) Seriously hope they don't do anything stupid.
BTW has anyone lost anything when brought their car to service?

Never lost so much as a stick of gum.

But, you can probably go and pick up your stuff if you need/want it. They don't want to be responsible for it any more than you want to worry about it.

I dropped my car off earlier this week and all the loaners were lined up in the Service Dept.'s driveway. They were all 25s (with those stupid "Courtesy Vehicle of so & so BMW stickers in the rear window), so I'm curious about people getting more expensive cars.

From my point of view, I agree with your frusturations, and can believe it. Some people don't know how to respect things, particularly if it is not theres. I am probably a little more careful on something that DOESN'T belong to me.

I'd drive fast, and I'd drive the car fairly hard, but thats drive my personal cars too. Would i burn out the tires and such, no way. I wouldn't do anything to fck up the car just for kicks and think it doesn't affect me. Thats just wasteful imo.

I think the op should have acted accordingly.

Seriously? They gave me an SG 325i and an e46 325ic before. Is there even an Enterprise in the area?
