It'd be easier to swap your Miata in to that engine bro.

Back to the OP, looks like a really powerful, well designed engine. Let's hope it makes it to US models. |

Typical truck and bus diesel engines are inline 6 cylinder and have around 500 hp plus over 1000 lb-ft of torque from 11 liters.

anyone know how much power it would be making if it wasn't limited by BMW's choice of transmission? ZF makes 8-speed units that can handle more torque, it's a shame BMW didn't choose to use one of those so they could really show off the new engine specs. I assume they had reasons beyond just cutting costs. At least I hope they did.

World's Most Powerful Six-Cylinder Diesel
???
Maybe worlds most powerful straight six! Audi's new SQ7 TDi beats these figures... and I'm no Audi fan boy(!) but Audi's V6 has BMW beat in these power figures numbers. "SQ7 TDI comes with 429 horsepower and 663 lb-ft"... two turbos plus one electric compressor!! http://truckyeah.jalopnik.com/audis-...d-z-1762857083

The point sygazelle makes is correct - there are actually plenty more 6 cylinder diesels that are more powerful (e.g. The M43 in the link is available as a 6cyl - http://www.cat.com/en_GB/products/pr...47468&type=new ) it's a silly headline
