A good bit will be skipped here because fitting is boring and I was too busy to stop and take a pic. Sorry. Here the cars roof gets trimmed. The last cuts before finally fit.

I would like to emphasize that Gene is 88 years old and just gets it done. A legend for good reason. If you have watched any of the 60's classic TV shows, he was probably involved in the vehicles.
Back to our previously scheduled programing. Next up was filling in the gap in the sail panel. This is pretty much done by eyeball. |

We had all Sunday and not much left until.....
Matt(owner and friend) bought a chrome lady sculpture from Gene to use as a hood ornament. This led to a bunch of idea crunching. Finally a consensus was reached. She should be sunk into the hood. Gene got a glow in his eye and it was ON. So here is the lady in the vag. Last edited by 08njSTEP; 04-04-2016 at 08:34 PM.. |

Winfield approved. So here she is all done and loaded up for home. A great 3 days. Lots of work and lots of skill on display. Gene Winfield is awesome. The only time he wasn't working was when a pretty lady came around. Like a moth to a flame. We had a beauty fire marshall on Saturday and Gene was smitten by that kitten
The whole crew got along without a single freak out. A real testament as we were working on a time line and on display to the public. A great moment in my life. |

Love the pics and the work but man, you really need a better phone. Let me guess... Android?

Yeah I bought a DSLR camera the day before show just to get some great shots. The plans are for air ride next and to drive it all summer. Get the body sorted next winter. Maybe spray it spring '17. I'm a painter and want to see it shine. Matt likes the flat/rat look. He's thinking jade green body with white metal flaked roof.

An update for anyone interested. The body is off the frame and the airbags are getting done. It's a pretty big project using the original king pin front suspension. The rear requires a new axle as the original has the driveshaft as part of the axle housing. No laying frame with that set up. The new axle requires a new transmission. And that leads to engine choices. Currently straight 6, but the V8 itch is strong. There was LS talk but looks like a 283-350 is more likely. I was a strong influence on Gen 1 small block with ingelese digital fuel injection.
The front bags are currently working and laying frame. My buddy(owner) had a baby and that slowed progress for awhile, but it is back on track now. |
