Location is everything. You can live very comfortably on $150k/yr in the boonies or be tied to your mortgage with that same pay in a big city. The woman in this story took home $1500/mo? What makes anyone think that's enough to live in or even near SF by yourself? This isn't some 16 y.o. kid running away from home. This woman is 25 and should know better.

A few years ago I worked with a guy who was very good at coding. He took a job in SF that bounced him from ~$45k out here in the cornfields to just over ~$100k in SF. He's not living a whole lot better aside from being in a nicer city. SF is just not a place you want to be earning under $100k, let alone entry level pay.

Oh good God where do I begin. Girl graduated college with useless major. Can't find a job that pays a decent wage, for obvious reasons. Takes a job that I could train my dog to do. Then uses the skills gatherd from her useless English major to get her self fired. Not only can she not get a decent job, thanks to her major she can't even hold on to a shitty one. Oh God the irony of this is absolutely delicious. This idiots blog should be medatory reading to every HS student.

Am I wrong to say that the most surprising thing about this whole ordeal is that Yelp actually has customer service?!?!?!?!? I tried looking all over the website for it, and all I can get are noreply@yelp.com emails from compliance when I write a legitimate review about the most horrible experience I've ever had as a consumer, and I got so disheartened, I even tried (and failed) to make a better competitor!

Also Bay Area and the suburbs does have nightmarish rent (believe me, my GF lived in Daly City), but newsflash: Either get a roommate or rent a room! If I was only making $1,450 a month, I wouldn't try to stick out for a $1,200 apartment either! Also social media is valued, but do you need an entire team to write 160 words into a Twitter? Nope.

All in all, I sympathize for her since I've gone through immense financial difficulties and know what it's like to starve myself, but my reasons were because I've gotten screwed over by 2 bosses (one illegally underpaid and another refused to pay), and I've already lowered my standard of living as far as I can go (I'd sell my car, but LA is a nightmare without one)... But I'd rather live in one of those arrangements where there's 4 beds in a living room (and I have) than to starve and blame it on wages that are being paid on time and not below minimum wage... Besides, at least there is SOME free food; minus a 1-week temp job where we had to pull 14-hour shifts or just as a once-per-month incentive at a sales job, I've never had a job that REGULARLY gave you FREE food!

Aside from what's already been said, the part that also kills me is yelp provides snacks for their employees as a perk and this person still manages to complain about that. Not to mention full health coverage. SMH.
