I own a Rolex, Tag chronograph, and now an Apple Watch Sport. Not sure what that makes me, but all serve a specific purpose. I primarily use the Apple for runs, but have found the ability to review texts quick very useful. Like everything in life YMMV.

Also own a Rolex that I wear daily. Thinking about the next Apple iWatch, when it releases this year. A traditional watch at this point is an luxury, fashion accessory. The iWatch is more functional, when you think about it since it has a lot of functionality aside from using it as a watch.

I'm a midrange (Rolex, Pam, Cartier, Tag, Montblanc, nothing really impressive) collector and I am okay with Apple and their watches, unlike the guy who sounds like anything but the first 3 letters of his name,. I don't think I want one more piece of technology to take care of though. Sometimes there's those weeks when everything electronic betrays you and I don't want to have to fix another electronic thing...or remember to charge it. I think Apple watches are pretty nice, and I like that you can send a loved one a heartbeat.

Though i can't respond with my watch, it's nice to have it vibrate on my wrist when a text or call comes through. I can't always feel my phone vibrate in my pocket or hear it vibrate in the car or at my desk.

different strokes for different folks. got mine on launch day and i haven't taken it off since. other watches have been sitting in the drawer. and all they do is tell me the time.
it really depends on the use case. most people will probably not find it useful in their daily lives. it's a niche product (tablet) and certainly not a "must have/necessity" (phone). that being said, i find it very useful, and for a first-gen product, it has been implemented very well. can i suggest it to other people? no. there are still a few problems with it, namely the processing power/speed. apps tend to load a little too slowly for what are suppose to be a very quick and transient interactions. anything tasks that take more than 10-15 seconds should be delegated to a phone, yet apps already take nearly 5+ seconds to load, which totally negates that purpose. I'm sure the second or third gen implementation would really be impressive. for now, id say don't buy the current one and leave that up to the early adopters. get one when the announce the apple watch 2 or whatever. even then, think about it, try it out, and make sure it's the right device for you. you always have a 14-day return window as well.

It's fugly too. At least the tag version isn't fugly. Ithe says I'm a teenie bopper to me, not a serious person for a high level job or someone who commands respect.

I don't like the 2-tone look of Rolex watches either. I think grumpy, bitter, old men, who think they're better than everyone else.

Excluding the Daytona, Explorer, and GMT. I had a Daytona for about a month and sold it for a small profit because it attracted too much attention. It was a beautifully engineered with amazing craftsmanship.
I loved it but as I stated before, the attention was too much. Cheers-mk P.S. Before anyone comments on my i8 ownership, pls consider that the watch is on my wrist from sun-up to sundown, the car stays in the parking lot! |

Nearly any time the watch popped out (at that point I wore suits 95% of the time) someone would comment on it's beauty, leading to a, 'Isn't that the one that costs...?' conversation. After about 20 of these incidents, I said enough is enough and we parted company. I still miss it. Cheers-mk |

And I hear you man. Its a shame some people just see nice watches as a status symbol, and not as a work of art! |

Garmin Fenix 3. It's a nice looking watch, a fairly dimwitted smart watch and a fantastic sports watch. (HR, GPS, Speed, Temp, Altitude, Step counter, Cycling computer, etc...) Wanna go exploring on an unknown trail? Set it to hiking and start on your way. It'll map your path to ensure you can get back out while keeping track of your distance, elevation gain/loss and calories burned. That feature works nice when hunting too. Go out mid afternoon and head back when dark, GPS maps on the watch makes sure you're not lost. Both places likely to not have cell service.
