I love my Dinan tune and the peace of mind that comes with it. Steve Dinan is also really interesting to listen to - would love to see a long documentary on Dinan's history and more insight as to their tuning strategies.

Just as the ECU has enough intelligence to work around a piggyback throwing lower than expected boost values and adjust accordingly, the increased flow from an intake, exhaust, dp's etc will result in similar adjustments.

Let me at least say that on my previous car, an F10 M5, my fuel pump, injectors and turbos were replaced. No tune done to car. If I had any tune on the car, they COULD have probable cause to blame failure on the tune and I would have been out thousands of dollars. The benefit of the Dinan "warranty" at retail far exceeds the opportunity cost of having engine failure. I would probably shell out the money if I decided I needed more power.

IMO, since the dealers are retailing the Dinan product, the DEALER should warranty the labor and then pursue Dinan for reimbursement. There should no BS passed to the customer...If the dealer experiences problems with Dinan, they should drop their product. Pretty simple. I also understand from Dinan's perspective, they don't want to warranty labor/parts if the customer has additionally modified the vehicle. The main relationship is the dealer and Dinan, the customer, if honest, should be the first person to be taken care of.

I definitely am going to do more research on this before I pull the trigger.

Key word "should". Trust me the warranty bit was a pain in the ass. The dealer kept passing to Dinan and they kept going back and fourth. I had a loaner so it wasn't too bad, but it was absolute bs and a turn off to Dinan going forward.

I have noticed the exact same thing. I run and have logged two tunes, ESS and BPM. The ESS tune minimum torque tables are obviously modified, as when one converts "actual moment" as logged using the BT tool, it says the car is running about 480 bhp, which is simply not the case given my low mods and retention of stock cats. BPM tune you can tell doesn't modify the minimum torque tables, so when you convert "actual moment" to bhp, it gives a much more realistic 430-440 bhp as calculated by the ECU.

Obviously there is no torque sensor present, so that is a calculation from various input signals/sensors. Just as he describes in the video. So that is connected to some sort of mapping with values and the ecu sees that that is getting out of specs.
And this is on a +10 years old ecu.
Those values probably will be set tighter and tighter as the ability and accuracy to monitor and calculate values gets better and better.
That's why you probably see all high power builds that give double the horsepower or more all run on aftermarket ecu's. Not only do they give better control as everything is nicely documented, it's getting more difficult to find all mappings and other safetyfeatures in a modern ecu and hack them out.

Zero out of pocked due to complaints directly to BMWna. I get what you're saying, but when I buy a premium car brand like BMW, I don't expect the bullshit that came with my issues.

Now I will also say that my 07 e92 335 was one of the worst most unreliable cars I've ever owned. New turbos at 29k, 3 hpfp's, a ton of injector and coil pack failures both before tune and after Dinan tune. But stupid me decided to keep the car until about 86k. I will say also too maybe a tiny bit forgiving for new model/issues and all that shit, but driving around a mundane 328 e90 while they had my modded car (that performed amazing when there were no issues) that was complete bullshit. They tried charging me for a coolant flush and oil change during that time as well. So bmwna had to step in.
