I like both teams. Last years NFC championship should've gone to the 49'ers

I raise turkeys, they can fly (short distances) The first ones we raised, on Wednesday before T-day one flew over the fence and then ran down the street never to be seen by us again.
We didn't raise any this year, it was a bit traumatic when the guy who looks like Santa came over and slit their throats while hanging in the carport. I can post video later if anyone is interested. We go to the in-laws, normally around 30 or so people. We are going turkey shopping tonight. I already have the fixings for grandma's pumpkin pie. I am ordering more insulin today, it should get here by then. |

The guy who knows how to kill the turkeys and PROPERLY gut them looks like Santa. I would have screwed it up royal because I would have gone straight for taking the whole head at once. He just slits their throat and lets them bleed out, apparently less stress and less stress-hormone to taint the meat.
Although being wrapped in a straight-jacket of burlap and 100-MPH tape, then hung by your feet over a metal bucket seems a bit stressful to me. . . |

So I'll count you on the side of NO for the video?
I am an animal person, but I also realize that animals must die so that I can eat. I guess I learned early in life because my grandfather had a dairy farm and pigs. We often took animals to the slaughterhouse, and I was always there until the animal was at least put down and the preparation began. |

Thanksgiving is always that great time of year where I ignore the family that I hate while I get to prove to them why they don't get to cook anything anymore. I typically have 45 or so people at my house day of, most of whom are friends who don't have family in the area and don't travel home, smoke 1 bird, fry another and roast another. My girlfriend is great with baking so she makes rolls and pies while I pretty much make everything else. One of my friends who comes over makes some tasty beer and another has become fairly good at winemaking. Everybody else brings along some bottle of booze and we typically drink until the end of the second game, where some people stay, some walk home and others have their sober ride get them home.
Actually, we do this about 6 times a year, just because it's a great excuse to get together, get drunk and eat food. |

Still a ways out, but I'm planning on having Thanksgiving lunch with my parents (like I do every year), along with my half-sister and her family who are visiting this year. Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, copious amounts of gravy, cranberry "sauce", crescent rolls, pumpkin pie, pecan pie, and a couple of glasses of whiskey, as per usual. Watch some football and have a few beers with my dad. Might have Thanksgiving dinner with my mom's side of the family. If not, I'll probably have a get-together with some friends, make some spiked Egg Nog, etc.
Thanksgiving used to be a lot more fun and eventful around our house when I was a kid (or it seemed that way, at least). We used to have a LOT of family over for Thanksgiving lunch/dinner, I'd watch cartoons and play video games, the grown-ups would watch football in the living room, and we'd all have a great time and enjoy each other's company. But over the past few years, we haven't really had anybody over (at least not as much), so it just doesn't seem as enjoyable. |

Ok cool, I didn't mean to sound offensive. I was just questioning the "uniform" part of your post, that's all

That part is for the service members who may be away from home. MAYBE even a Coast guard uniform, since my brother-in-law-in-law used to ride on boats.

First time I'll be hosting Thanksgiving. It's usually nice to get out of town though, and eat at someone else's house. Makes it feel like more of a holiday.

The girl I've been dating for the last couple of months just broke up with me, so I'm going to visit some friends of mine in Tucson I haven't seen in a while for turkey day.

2 mos? You can look at it this way, at least she didn't drag it out. Sucks to get dumped either way.

At least she did it before the holidays so you don't have to spend money on her gifts and what not.
