they offer many Destros!

to the OP, they are a style of their own as others have pointed out, you either love it or hate em and im in the former category. THey're great if you know what they are all about and their history is a great story..
Thanks for the heads up, had never seen that and wasn't so in love with them to begin with that I really dug into available options out there. I've been lusting after a Ploprof for a while so haven't really been looking around too much.

don't love them, don't hate them.. being a fan of divers, the one i like is the 382 or 507.. i like the cleaner 382 dial as i'm not a huge fan of power reserve indicators.. but i'll take either

Not a joke at all... the logo 005 really is not easy to find.

Instead of buying on a watch forum I wanted to purchase from a reputable pre-owned dealer (either Philippes in Beverly Hills where I purchased my previous watch or Beverly Hills Watch co).

I was also considering getting it used and the Panerai boutiques (atleast the one in Beverly Hills and La Jolla do not have them available (they might get 1 more batch but they are getting discontinued).

watch forums are totally fine if you buy from someone with references... i've done it 4 times. Never had an issue. Much larger pool of watches to pick from that way.

Agreed. If you're really nervous try and find something local at first and meet at an AD. Anyone who's being honest will have zero problem doing so.

They might be fine but the dealers I listed offer a warranty with the watch as well. (Philippes gives a 1 year warranty and Beverly Hills Watch co gives a 2 year warranty).

Kind of makes me feel better about purchasing a used watch. For instance, when I purchased the Breitling from them I noticed it was running slow and I was able to take it in for free.

Then there is the other point of view that the savings gained from purchasing on the forums may cover the cost of maintenance..... I just felt a bit more comfortable purchasing from the store I guess when there are soo many great fakes out there.(personal preference)

PAM's are great watches but feel they're over priced for what they are now. Ever since Stallone wore one in Cliffhanger and started to pimp them for Panerai, the prices has skyrocketed. If the resell value held better, maybe I'd pick one up. But in the mean time, I think I'll stick with something that "looks" similar. Lumtec's M42 ftw!!! http://www.lum-tec.com/collection/cu...matic-m42.html

I really love the styling and had a PAM 111 for a while. I liked it for something different being manual wind and leather band, but in the end I just loved my Rolex too much and ended up trading an Explorer II Polar and the 111 for a GMT BLNR.

I got the PAM 320, it was hard not to buy it in Florence Italy. When I found out it was the original location of Panerai I pulled the trigger.

Strong move. Always much more fun to do things that way, even for a little premium if necessary. Congrats!

Ive had a couple PAM's.

I love the way my 328/312 looks but hate how high it sits on the wrist. I just sold it and looking for a 233.

I have one, but I barely wear it. I sport my Hamilton X-Wind on a daily basis (..when not at work). The Panerai will probably be for sale on Watchfreeks or WatchUSeek real soon.
