I got a call this morning telling my delivery for Tomorow was cancelled. The dealer did not have a lot of information but when I checked "24V-104 Integrated Brake recall" my vin was there. The dealer said all sales on 2024 2025 series 5 and 7 plus others were stopped. He had no time frame on when I could take delivery.
The recall had been updated on August 12

Recalls and bad parts is nothing new, but the number of stop sales across the automakers seems like it is increasing. Partly I think this is just in general that cars are getting much more complicated, but also quite likely in order to fend off liability as the world becomes increasingly litigous (is that a correct word?).

I’ve been watching Porsche and they’ve had a bunch of these in the 1-2 years I was focussing mainly on Taycan, and there have been various stop sales, cars embargoed at the ports (parts needed exchanging because the factory installed ones were built with Chinese forced labor), heater core failures after redesign after redesign leaving the car without heat in winter, improper battery sealant allowing water ingress and battery failure.

Just bought/picked up my i5 on 31 July, no issues there, but when I took it back to get my windows tinted this past Friday (8/9) they mentioned that there was this integrated brake recall.

Service Advisor said there's no solution to it yet, so they won't do anything with it but note it.

I just checked and my I7 has been caught in the recall. It’s sitting at Port Hueneme and has been for a few days now. Expected delivery was today, but obviously, that’s off.

So was told today that basically they are doing actual broken cars first…..then sold cars sitting and then everyone else.

My salesperson actually just put in for the exact same build today just in case….as he said the currently produced models aren’t affected. Thus, worst case, we could take the new one in 3 weeks when it gets here.

My car has been on order for 3.5 months. How are they getting a car they just ordered that quickly?

My assumption would be that they're going to take a previously ordered dealer allocation? But expecting it to be here in 3 weeks seems pie in the sky.

When there was an issue with iXs last year there were huge parking lots of iXs sitting outside the factory as things were so backed up they couldn’t get onto trains or ships as VPCs ran out of space. Hopefully this won’t be that bad.

My i5e40 has about 5K miles on it, it does show up on the recall list, but so far no problems.

Hopefully since they are saying currently produced cars are not affected, Mine, and a few others here like ToddRGuy, who are waiting for build will not be affected either. I'm sorry for those whose cars are sitting at the Docks because of the stop sale. I just hope they are not waiting months for a repair.

How would they do that?: Release the car to the dealer when they dealer is ready to perform the repair?

My dealer also indicates that my car is subject to the recall. I picked up the car in July. They also indicated that some customers have been waiting months to return their car for repairs. There seems to be a very limited supply of required parts. This is in Europe.

I suspect they are changing the parts out on the production lines first, since those are the easiest. And the ones on the lot waiting for shipping are cycled through, and then the ones waiting for delivery before the dealers can recall the ones already sold and delivered on the roads. Otherwise they have to stop the production lines, and the whole transport engine grinds to a halt. They probably want to move those cars, not have them sitting in the lot waiting to go back in for repairs before they can ship them.

It appears that this is much more of an “inspection issue” than a “replacement issue”. Units with green dots have already been inspected. Units without green dots have not, and require a bench level test. If it fails to pass, then it gets replaced. Based on their last publication in July that I posted here, the replacement rate was 0.55%, so it’s an incredibly small number. I don’t think they’re going to have a supply problem. It’s purely manpower at this point.

As far as vehicles at the VDC, I would imagine they’d try to get vehicles with a Priority 1 Status through first (vehicles that have been sold).

I don’t know why people who are waiting on delivery, with their cars, at the dealership are being told they have no solution yet. Why wouldn’t the in-house mechanics just perform the inspection per the document you provided?

> *Important Note: An Affected Vehicle MUST have a minimum of 170 accumulated miles prior to
performing this Recall repair. If the Affected Vehicle has less than 170 miles, drive the vehicle to reach the required minimum
accumulated vehicle mileage (See below Claim Information section below for additional
information).

Does it mean that I would eventually get my new, expensive brand new car with already 170 miles on the meter and the would give me a $500 coupon? Sounds ridiculous 😂 Or am I missing sth?

I have the same question. I was just wondering the car I was suppose to pick up today has someone driving it around to put mileage on it.

As I clearly told you in my post, I’m talking about our X7. Yes, another will be here in 3 weeks. This obviously isn’t the case for those of you with cars coming from Germany. Reading comprehension.

I drive by Sterling BMW in Newport Beach every day on my way to my office. They always have their new 7’s right in front and they have all been removed. Not a new 7 to be seen.
