I've become melancholy over the whole BMW ordering process. I've now started picking daisies and mumbling to myself out loud and flicking off and lipping FU to any BMW I see on the road. I'm literally going to bend over and touch my toes, ass towards the sales rep and spell RUN at the dealer when I go to pick my vehicle up - whenever that is. Maybe it would be different if I was told that it would take 20+ weeks to receive my vehicle instead of roughly 10 weeks.

Don't you love first world problems?

PS don't take this so seriously though, this is just my coping mechanism.

lol 😂 I needed this humor. Not gonna lie, I’m having a hard time maintaining positivity about the experience at this point.

I’m worried that by the time it arrives I’m going to be so bitter, that I tell them to please have all the documents ready for me to sign, as I want to be there less than 15 minutes. Grab the keys, and leave without so much as an introductory demo, conversation or a smile. And then frown at the f***ing thing in my garage for a month.

Todd, have you considered putting that one behind you, ordering an another one and starting the process anew? It likely will take longer for that to get here but maybe you can enjoy the process as it is intended to run and not one filled with recalls/stop sales.

I honestly didn’t even know that was an option. What happens to the one that I ordered? Is the dealer basically “stuck” with it? Or do they also get to cancel the order?

If I have a “redo” I think I’m likely to order the 550e.

Many folks re-ordered when the stop sale started and it was uncertain as to when it would be resolved. Some dealers re-ordered the vehicles for people without them even asking for it to be done.

The vehicle will be the dealer's to sell. Check with your CA, you can always cancel an order and in this case if you did a non-refundable deposit they should return it/use for another due to the circumstances.

Okay, in looking at other people’s data, the longest I’ve seen a vehicle in QC during this experience is about 8 weeks. Which would be Wednesday of next week. I will start a dialogue with my CA if nothing moves by then. Thankfully Ohio has the Consumer Sales Practice Act regarding deposits for auto purchases, that mandate that all deposits are fully refundable with agreements to the contrary being unenforceable. I like my CA and the dealership itself has good vibes, so I’d definitely continue with them. It’s not their fault BMW has no competent disaster recovery plan.

So guys, tomorrow afternoon I'm picking it up! They got it this week and wanted to push it out before November, I ain't complainin' Have it scheduled for a full front+rockers PPF (XPEL Ultimate Plus) in a week, so it will not be driven too much til then. Winter is almost here so studded tires will be put on the OEM 19s right away and I'll not see it on the summer wheels until end of March. They are aftermarket 20s I kept from the iX3, but they just need lower profile tires (255/45 PS4S)

Still rooting for you all!

Congratulations! That’s literally the first thing on my checklist if mine arrives. I have a guy lined up for XPEL Ultimate (same package), ceramic coating and tint.

Sadly, not a word! 7 weeks in QC and ticking.

Definitely look into ceramic coating. It makes detailing pretty low maintenance. There are a few caveats though; you can not use an automated Carwash with bristle brushes, for example. It does make your vehicle much more resistant to elements that can affect your clear coat. Like bird droppings, pine sap, bugs, etc.

The coating also seems to provide a higher level of luster. Your detailer can go into more in depth conversation regarding pros and cons, but I’ve had it on the last 3 cars I’ve owned and would never not have it.

Damn, stay strong bro *enter Rob Schneider* "Yu can du it!"

Btw, a follow up on the PPF - will you do the headlights as well? Was goin back n forth on it after reading mixed opinions but he said there should be no risk, so it will be included in the scope.

Regarding the ceramic, will for sure ask for it.

You know, I haven’t in the past but I think I will this time. My Audi did okay without the headlight PPF, but in looking at a lot of the detailed picture that people post in that area on the forum, I’m noticing what appears to be minor road wear. It could just be debris from not being freshly washed, but with other recent posts commenting on lens abrasion on the inside of the housing, it makes me wonder if the lense material isn’t exceptionally resistant.

I tried the Genius line today because someone suggested that the online site is days behind. Not in my case. After QC all of September, now sitting at the port waiting for a ship since October 1st. This certainly isn’t the exciting experience we planned.

Given the few number of total shipments to the States in October, it’s likely been waylayed behind the glut of stopsale vehicles. If recall correctly, they shifted what few dates that had to mid October, when the shit hit the fan regarding IBS. There were only 3 transits, and they occurred on the 12th, 14th and 25th.

In November, there are 7 total transits, at the time of this post. It’s already shifted around a few days from when last I looked. The first November’s shipment being pushed to the 9th. There are two vessels leaving on that date. The first December shipment on the 3rd date likely turns your 5’er into a Christmas present.

Anything after the December 3rd, and you’re getting a New Years present. So much for driving MY25 in MY24.

It occurred to me that the Genius line might know which port and if I knew that I could look at departures from that location. So I called back and asked and they told me it is at “the port of Departure”. Is that a city in Germany? Sigh.

I’m going to talk to my sales guy and if it appears this car won’t arrive until mid-winter, I’ll cancel this order and resubmit it so it arrives when winter is over.

I guess technically it could be either Bremerhaven (Germany) or Zeebrugge (Belgium). I believe I've read of people's 5'er departing from either location.

Todd, You could probably re-order today (Whether another identical 540iX, or a 550e X Drive) and then it just becomes a race. I "Think" that if the original one comes in first, the dealer will offer it to you and cancel the re-order, or bring it in as a dealer vehicle. Especially if you ask them to. Or if the Re-order vehicle comes in first, then they will put the original one on the lot when it eventually comes in. Either way you really can't lose, and neither will the dealer.

The dealers in California near me would take my order and not require a deposit, and not hold me to accept the car if I changed my mind. I actually ordered a car at one dealership, then later cancelled it and ordered another one elsewhere because I didn't like the way the SA treated me for the few weeks after I placed my order. Luckily, I didn't have to spend much more time waiting because the dealer I re-ordered with had an allocation ready for me and so there was very little wait time between my 2nd order and it going into Production status. My SA probably had someone else cancel their order with him, and so he was able to give me that order and reconfigure it before it went into production.

You'll have to check the rules in your state, and check with your dealership to see what your options are, but that is definitely an option to consider. I think the law in California requires car dealers to return any deposit on a car if the customer changes their mind. I think that's why the dealers near me didn't even require a deposit to place my order. It may or may not be the same in your state, but it's worth looking into.

The dealerships in FL required a $2500 deposit for an order. I always make the manager write & initial on the sales contract that I can get a full refund if car is not delivered in 3 months. It is totally up to me if I want to exercise that. Right now I will wait, since I am not in a hurry. Things may change.

That's pretty smart. I take it you have played this game before. I had to give a $3000 deposit (Signed Credit Card authorization) that he will return to me upon delivery. But he said (In Writing) that I can cancel at any time, even by refusing delivery if there is something not 100% acceptable or as-ordered. Still fingers crossed. if I will be able to take delivery today. I am concerned my Registration may be delayed because of the rains and flooding happening in Spain right now.

I can definitely ask about the options. I did notice that a lot of the vehicles they order for stock seem to be more “bare bones” in nature and I couldn’t understand why, but then I had a thought that perhaps its market based.

Ohio’s median household income is less than the price of the G60 I ordered. So perhaps in order to move them, they have to have a sweet spot. I have a bit of a distorted lense here, being relatively fresh off the West Coast boat and sporting a Bay Area salary in the Midwest. My concern is they might not be willing to have two fully loaded G60s if they fear I could back out of both deals.

I guess I could order my second at a different dealership as SkyKing suggested, if they refuse a second dueling order, and just cancel the second one before it hits production status if the first ever arrives.
