Pronoun confusion, sorry about that - "him" is the detailer, not the Genius guy. My CA recommended using the card key when leaving the key with a valet, mechanic, whatever. Probably more for convenience than security.

I'd like to get people's thoughts on this. We ordered our i5 last August, and got caught up in the delays. I called the Genius line in Nov, and they said start of production got delayed until third week of January. They said it would take 3-4 months from that point.
I've been monitoring My Garage, and the timeline there seems to match. I do have a VIN, but the status has been stuck at Step 3- "Production Begins- Today's the day: your BMW has entered the production queue." I reached out to my BMW salesman today just to check in. He responded: "The car is scheduled to be finished with production on 1/16. Then we just have to wait for the shipping!" Why do you think I am getting conflicting info? What is the most reliable source- Genius line, My Garage website, or my dealer? Thanks. |

Ok thanks! That Chrome trick shows a Production date of Jan 16, which matches what my dealer said. So it sounds like I'll have it sooner than expected!

I used Marine Traffic. If you're correct about that ship name, it left Belgium on 1/3 and is due in Galveston on 1/19.

Few pictures from delivery day from mine. Enjoying it so far, few little quibbles, could do with more storage in drivers area for sunglasses etc, the key is horrendous - you cant get a decent sized key ring onto it and have to use 2 smaller one's instead.
