My car is now showing no open recalls. For reference it’s been in Baltimore for about 2 and half months and the steering spindle recall showed up about 2 weeks ago. That was the same time the IBS recall was removed. Anxiously waiting for my dealer’s call today. Hope this means everything is starting to move for everyone. Feels like positive trends lately.

Dealer confirmed my car has been released. Just a matter of getting it from Baltimore to the dealership. Thanks to everyone providing info and for letting me commiserate while I waited. Best of luck to everyone getting their cars as soon as possible.

Been in touch with BMW live chat today.
My order was updated today with another delay to the estimated build day. This is now the 4th bump my order has had. My last order was during Covid with all the chip shortages. I was really hoping this time it would be smooth sailing! Like so many of you have either said or implied, this really does take the shine off what should be an amazing shopping experience. Self pity over. Onwards and upwards. |

My new i5 arrived at the dealership this morning, but they don't have recall info yet. I'm going to see it here in a little bit and will try to talk to the GM to see if I can get any info out of him on the recall. What a tease this will be!

Just spoke to my rep, he says he was told today that there is still no ETA on repairs for 5 or 7 series.

Well found out late yesterday that the steering spindle recall was fixed, there is certainly light at the end of the tunnel.. Hopefully they don't sneak in another recall between now and its trip to the dealership lol. It's been sitting at the port in Jersey for the 2 1/2 months... Looking forward to the challenge of cleaning it as I told them at the dealership not to bother... The wheels that I bought will have to wait till late spring now before I put them on, maybe someone will have springs for the 540 by then! I hope everyone else that's still waiting that it won't be much longer now

BMW Canada doesn't release the email addresses of senior management, but it is not that hard to figure that out.
All of the phone numbers and email addresses are not published and the switchboard won't pass along messages. I wrote the President on Thursday afternoon and included the October 15th email from the zone rep person to my salesperson. I asked him to tell me where my car was. Things happened quickly after that My car is still in Germany with a possible late January arrival. (Which I take to mean early April) How are they going to get all these cars on ships along with regular production vehicles I can cancel my order but the problem is that so few cars fit me (I am tall and have a messed up hip) When I drove BMW's in the late 80's to the late 90"s they were rock solid cars. Lexus has spoiled me for service and open communication. |

There is sommee progress here - my car is now showing up on the UK recall checker as needing a "safety related recall" - recall code - 0032660300
I am hoping that this means BMW UK are at least working out a resolution and next steps. But probably dashes my faint hopes of my car not having the faulty part. |

Okay, so an update from me, the car arrived at the dealership this morning, and is set to be delivered to me on the 30th October (I could have gone and collected it today, but it's too far from me to warrant the journey).
Timeline of events for those interested: UK Delivery Vehicle: i5 e40 Status 154 (entered production): 2nd August Status 155 (final assembly / QC): 26th August Status 182 (handover to carrier): 27th September Status 193 (arrived at port of origin): 8th October Status 193 (arrived at port of destination): 14th October Status 196 (arrived at dealership): 21st October There are no recalls listed, so I presume it spent so long in QC so that the recalls could be dealt with before onward journey (though, that is a presumption, nobody has been able to tell me whether it had been fitted with a faulty part or not). This has been a rollercoaster, huge thanks to TurtleBoy for his input, seem to know more than BMW themselves, which is not great! To everyone else still waiting, hopefully you all see some movement in the coming days. |

Congratulations on its arrival! Once you start driving it I would be willing to bet you will forget all about the hassles of getting it. Good luck, enjoy and be safe.

The part for my car will be delivered tomorrow and the dealer is going to install it directly. Then they want to do an overall check on Wednesday so there are no more unforeseen mishaps. I am picking it up on Thursday morning. So fingers crossed for now but the wait should be over in a couple of days.

Same here - I just checked with my SA, and no updates yet. SA did say there are rumblings about another week or two, but nothing official... so the wait continues!

My car is at the dealership and I'm going to pick it up Saturday.
As I mentioned, my car has been in Baltimore since the beginning of August. It showed having the IBS fix a couple of weeks ago and then the spindle issue fixed last Thursday. Thanks again for all the info everyone has provided and letting me commiserate with you. Good luck to everyone. |

Hi Everyone,
I'm new here, but I've been lurking for a long time. I ordered a M60 in June and it arrived in Brunswick on August 26 where it has sat with both IBS (irritable bowel syndrome?) and steering recalls. I've gotten no useful information from my local dealership. In my routine bi-weekly check, I see that my car no longer has any recalls. I imagine it will start moving through the pipeline again and perhaps I'll be able to take delivery in the SC performance center soon. I thought I'd post this update so folks in about the same position, or behind me, might see some hope of getting a car soon! I don't view this as a new car anymore. I'm pretty concerned about the battery as well as having the car sit in Georgia outside for 2 months. Has anyone had any success squeezing some money out of BMW at this stage? It seems like they should need to do so. Best of luck to those still waiting to get any information at all! |
