I tend to use my calfs a lot when hiking and get the same quick burn. Last few hikes i've tried to just disengage them. Mine are fairly flexible so it works out.

Yesterday was my first day of strength training in a LONG time. I'm thinking i shouldn't have been so ambitious. You know it's bad when you work out in the evening and wake up already sore. haha

Second time out surfing on Saturday had good results.


Stood up twice. Shortboards are fucking hard to learn on though, if balance is barely off center left, right, forward, or back you're going down.

Transportability since there's no roof rack on the 128. Got a killer deal on the board. The challenge aspect.


There were a few different deciding factors. I have the pop up figured out, now it's just finessing it.

Ha! that's funny. The one thing I noticed though between long board and short is the mount. Longboard it was knee to poop stance, shortboard dominant on rear pad, push up centered hands, then non dominant foot forward, then adjust foot position..., and a lot quicker.

Short board should be dropping down the wave to create more room, basically controlled falling onto the board.
