No, our snow comes and goes throughout the winter. There was snow on this field five days ago and it'll be there again by the end of next week. Our highs lately have been hitting in the high 50s, yet about three week ago we had about 7-days with the highs below 20F. Dave

Speaking of no snow, I just got back from Tahoe. Barely any white stuff to be seen. This is a pano from 4 shots taken at the scenic overlook above Incline Village on the Nevada side.

Thanks guys! I don't ski anymore, but all my friends do and it has not been a good year so far. On the other hand, no chain controls made the drive a breeze.

Wow Dave, two absolutely spectacular shots! The first is so sharp, it's perfect. The light on the coyote is also special, plus the look on his face is so .. Serious, and determined... Great shots.

Stayed with an old friend at his place at Tahoe last night. He has 3 cats and 2 dogs. The senior is Gus. He is 18 years old. Not too fast anymore, but still doesn't take any guff from the other critters, and claims the primo spot by the fireplace.

Yeah, I try to use the Fisheye somewhat sparingly especially below 14mm due to the (by design) vignetting; however I felt it was the right tool for this particular shot.
-- Here's another from the same night, a favorite local place of mine especially for boat watching. It's right on the intracoastal canal near Port Everglades, where cruise ships depart for the Caribbean. Shot this on the floating wood decking, effectively making the tripod useless. Thus, I cranked the ISO to 8000 and managed a 1/10 s shutter speed using the TS-E 17 and my 6D. 15h Street Fisheries, Fort Lauderdale by ddk632, on Flickr |

Looking at the TS-E 17mm, I'm thinking that's really close to my 15mm after de-fishing. When I de-fish it can smear the corners a bit, which may make the 17 a better choice for me. After I get my new 500mm and 1D X, I'll have CPS send me one to try. I shoot those wide shots enough that I'll get usage out of another expensive lens. Here's one with my 15mm that I de-fished and cropped 2 to 1 to give it a pano-look: Pink Pre-dawn Sky by dcstep, on Flickr

Yeah I agree Dave, I think the 17 would suit you well. I love this lens! I got the fisheye for the creative fisheye type shots. Haven't tried to defish anything, mostly because for my more serious shots I use the 17. The fisheye is for fun! (Well it's all for fun, actually!)
Awesome shot, btw, saw it a while back on your Flickr. |

Nice one, Ed!
-- Below is my favorite shot from the other night on my water taxi / downtown Fort Lauderdale photo "walk". This is one of my favorite buildings in Fort Lauderdale, the Las Olas River House condo tower; it's very prominent and quite interesting. I always struggle to get a good shot of it, and tonight was no exception with dusk being uneventful. Walking around a bit further, I saw this Christmas tree and fountain which I felt would make a great foreground for the building. 20 second exposure at ISO 100 with the 6D and TS-E 17 (w/Fotodiox Wonderpana and 145mm CPL), shifted to get the entire building vertical and in the shot.
