I tell you what. In a world of constant lies and a lack of holding people in power accountable for anything, it was incredibly refreshing to hear Charles admitting his mistake and the humility in his voice. It’s so rare to get that type of honesty these days, especially when the stakes are so high. He’s a good guy and I hope he has a lot of success going forward.
The problem with being a good guy though is the killers are going to walk all over you. Max and Hamilton will never hold back where I think Charles might not have what it takes to win at this level. Decent race, I just wish Ferrari would stop being Ferrari so we could have a close championship! |

At 0:26 you can see that the left rear tyre is laying down a lot of rubber on the tarmac all through the corner. So he's pushing it or his tyres are in bad shape (probably both ). But I cant imagine that being the throttle stuck open or not responding properly because that's pretty much the situation all through the corner. Just before the rear tyre hits the blue paint it looks like it's already setting a small step to the side, so that is I think the point that he's already lost it. At that point the rear is breaking out more and more. That point just before the rear left hits the blue paint is not a point that you decrease throttle compared to the previous meters. The car is getting more and more straight so if any, you increase the throttle. But for sure he was pushing it.

There was really no chance Carlos would have been able to pull a 5 second gap to keep P3 with that time penalty, he likely either would have gotten re-passed in the last dozen laps or Checo and Russell would have been close enough to knock him back to P5 anyways. His tires were looking awful, so P5 plus the FL point is probably the best achievable result for him. As for Charles they should have brought him in as soon as Max pitted to cover, you should only keep a driver out if he feels his tires are in a good state concerning wear and being able to continue putting in decent laps. But hindsight’s 20/20 here. I don’t see Max being challenged the remaining of this year outside of mechanical failures. His pace is the top of the field and he’s gained a mental strength that comes with consistently winning, knowing better how to play the long game and knowing he doesn’t have to win every race. Hopefully next year we get a closer fight if Charles can mitigate his mistakes and the reliability is no longer an issue, Ferrari needs to put most of their remaining 2022 effort into getting this issue resolved. |

Yep, Max's confidence is off the charts. The guy just carries himself like he's won 8 WDCs already.

Ferrari will not win anything when margins are so tight if they don't hire non Italian planners unfortunately. |

It's not easy to drive at the limit every corner while also trying to calculate and strategise and this was shown up. That's my analysis anyway. Any top champion who had gone to Ferrari have had their career disarticulated. What more a rookie. CLC needs a Mentor - maybe he needs to hire Rosberg to coach him. |

Think that MAX would do a "full throttle bomb-dive" in the Ferrari box !

I think Charles was pushing hard because RB and Max was trying the undercut. He carried to much speed into the turn and lost the rear tires.

My take on post-race;
1) French GP is still garbage - even with the new cars. This is the track that needs to go. 2) Charles screaming "Noooooooo" really hit me in the feels - that was dark. I don't think he was going to win that race but I feel his pain and I really sympathize with his accident; 3) CHARLES IS NOT WDC MATERIAL YET. There's no doubt he will be a WDC one day and that he is 100% capable of challenging Max, there is a huge difference between Max and Charles currently. I don't say that as an attack on Charles but Max was also at this point a few years ago. The most important thing is he can not let this stuff break him. 4) Merc is really not as good as their podium results seem. They're improving but they're only up there because Sainz started in last + penalty, Leclerc crashed and Checo had a mediocre weekend in general. 5) Ferrari's real fight in the constructors is Mercedes for 2nd, which they should, ultimately, win. 6) The most important thing right now is that Ferrari doesn't lose sight of Charles' ceiling in order to get some quick results out of Carlos only to lose him - this wouldn't really surprise any of us right? 7) Max Verstappen is now tied for 8th in all time GP wins. There's a chance that in the next 2 years he could potentially be THIRD in all time GP wins - if you're a non LH44 fan; you truly appreciate the fact that you're watching a legend pave his way through F1 history. |

Last year he beat Merc. on strategy alone despite them arguably having the better car and this year Ferrari arguably has the better (faster) car and he even has to do less...

Interestingly, Max is at the moment almost driving like 'the professor' Alain Prost in his heyday. Fast, clean, no mistakes and a very cool head. This is what gets you (lots of) championships!
