You guys ever heard of a zipper merge? Where right at the bottle neck one car proceeds from alternating lanes? It’s how it’s done in EU, and it generates way less congestion that everyone trying to cram into one lane early or late.

We should do it like that here too. Makes much more sense, and avoids the need to “battle” for position.

I am sorry this requires people to know what they are doing and getting a license in does not require intelligence. It has a single point of failure, it just take one idiot to mess it up for everyone. Hell i had people stop on the on-ramp wait for traffic to clear, there is so many people out there who are simply afraid to merge into moving traffic at any speed.

I`m not talking about that, I do that all the time. I`m talking about construction areas where you drive by everyday and some assholes know what's going on and can`t help being assholes everyday.

It doesn't matter what time you leave, there`s no way around construction if that`s the street you have to take to get where you need to go

It's actually required by law in many countries. Including the one with no speed limits on certain sections of the highway. We should standardize this in the US, teach it in driver's ed, and make it a traffic law.

Of course those who have already been driving for a long time would have a fit.

Exactly this. I see people stopping on the freeway / on/offramps all the time, because people are just so afraid to pass or merge or any type of driving really. People are just too afraid when driving now a days is mainly the issue.
