Got it. Thanks. BMW should be paying you consulting fees....you provide more info than they do.

Please let us know if you are willing to wait until then ( there is always a chance that the estimated completion date could change ) or if you’d like to back out.

I talked to the GM today. He confirmed that the IBS issue was fixed on my car, but he said that he wasn't sure when the steering spindle issue would be corrected. He said that he hoped it would be a quick fix but he hadn't heard anything on timing and he said he'd be reluctant to give any timeframe given what happened with the IBS recall. Felt like he was trying to just be honest instead of just giving me the standard "it will be a couple of weeks." So we continue to wait. I'm just assuming at least another month.

Canada here. Your post was very helpful. Is there a link to this $1,000 discount?

I would like to ask BMW Canada if I am going to be receiving a similar discount.

My dealer's zone rep now doesn't know where my car is, whereas a week ago it was 60 kilometres from the dealership.

The Zone rep is not getting back to the dealership.

I guess it depends on what your definition of "soon" is. If that's in a few days, then sadly unlikely to happen. If it's late November, then that might be a bit more realistic and inline with the way things seem to be going.

I am turning in my current car in probably two weeks, that’s my definition of soon .

End of November is no go, I may as well custom order?

It's really going to depend on parts availability. There are people on the forum who've had their various custom ordered BMW's sitting at the port since August, waiting for the same part, and have not seen any movement. Might ask them about an ETA on the part, and see what they say.

Has anyone had any concrete resolution from the Steering Spindle recall since BMW NA made it official (It still isn't official here in UK).

Reading about it, it says it is 5 and 7's of various guises, but critically it says it is cars produced between June and early July...

"The recall impacts 2024-2025 530i xDrive and 540i xDrive models built between June 17, 2024, and July 17, 2024, 2024-2025 i5 eDrive40, i5 xDrive40, and i5 M60 models manufactured from June 17, 2024, to July 18, 2024, 2024 740i xDrive and 760i xDrives assembled from June 17, 2024, to July 16, 2024, 2024 750e xDrives made from June 18, 2024, and July 1, 2024, as well as 2024 i7 eDrive50, i7 xDrive60, and i7 M70 models made between June 18, 2024, and July 3, 2024."

My car is a WK 36 car so built first week of September, but it is still currently impacted by this recall.

Do you think there is a chance that now that BMW NA at least have confirmed the affected models the technical hold on all WK36 and beyond cars may be lifted, WITHOUT actually needing new parts?

I am looking for rays of hope that I can rescue my G61 from the cold and the wet dealership where she has now been sat for a month

On the NHTSA website, the documents that they have listed, casts a wider net than the dates above, from what I could find.

They show production dates in question from from June 17th - September 4th.

I just got my 2024 I7 two days ago. It had been sitting at the VDC since 8/5. The dealer said that both the brake & steering spindle issues were attended to at the VDC.

Congrats - that’s great to hear! It’s shocking to me how the board has become dominated by a combination of poor recall information, never ending delays and stop sales, rather than actual experiences being able to drive these new machines. How did we get here???!!!

GAAhh that does ring a bell - I think my source was from the BMWBLOG story, but your source is way more official.

A VIN decoder has my production date as September 3rd!!! So close.

I really would like it by November and I am certainly going to be pushing for some free all weather mats which i was planning on paying for

ETA: My car literally arrived at the dealer the very same day it became a delivery stop. September 18th. Soooo close ha.

Over on the G70 board I mentioned how—out of sheer frustration—I phoned my dealer and asked to speak with the General Sales Manager. I intended to—at the very least—VENT my frustration on him. Before I could say word one on the subject, he said: “Perfect timing! We just got word that your car will be on a truck from the VDC today and will arrive this afternoon!” Crazy!

By the way, the car is wonderful!

I will say that my dealer was reasonably accommodating and I got the feeling that they were willing to go the extra mile to try and heal the wounded relationship caused by the huge delays. I hope this attitude continues. I have a few issues to deal with them on tomorrow, so we shall see.

I keep asking myself the same question. After reading all of the production stories, that everyone had at the end of 2023 and Q1 and Q2 of 2024, I assumed that this would be pretty straightforward.

I was actually excited to follow the vehicle through production, and was using SkyKing’s diagram to get an idea of the time involved. I never suspected that the process was going to derail and turn into some prolonged, disorganized and unpredictable event.

As my “completed” G60 540 with “No open recalls” approaches 5 weeks in “Quality Check” I have no idea if this going to continue for additional weeks or months.

I refuse to believe that this vehicle has a backordered part that is so unique to my build specs that it preludes its completion and yet does not impact the thousands of other vehicles produced in a week.

When you think about it we ordered our cars all the way back in Q2 so that's 6 months worth of customers who haven't had their cars delivered and suffered poor communication and misinformation from BMW. The forum is going to be filled with these posts for another few months at least unfortunately.
It's actually nice to feel some solidarity with other i5 customers around the world and actually get some information about what's going on!

I hear you - no ill will directed at those stuck in the middle, it’s just remarkable that we’ve ended up with this unholy mess.
