The attention to detail, including gold foil insulation is EXACTLY how you build a no-compromise supercar. It took what...20+ years to eclipse it in top speed performance. One of the last auctions had one move at $10 million.

At BMWNA when they service the McLaren it has it's own garage. There is only 1 guy allowed to work on them. When he replaces tires he has to bed them in before customer delivery. All the cops know him and never bother him. He usually finds 2 people to take along. 6 of the 9 people I worked with got rides. Not me unfortunately. My understanding from those who DID ride is the acceleration is beyond reason.

They are amazing! Listening to it accelerate raises the hair on the back of my neck. It is unreal!!

We always knew one was due because the McLaren garage would have the door open, then 3/4 closed, and next day we could hear it roll in and then door was closed. The body shop was directly across from McLaren. This was in old montvale HQ. Then new HQ puts McLaren in another building with the hydrogen refuelling bunker.

F1 = eternal supercar groundbreaker. Even by today's standards. It was beyond ahead of its time. Especially the GTR.
