nope i'm not doing it live. Its just like producing. You line up your tracks and mix them, except ableton gives you a lot better controls for beat matching than logic or pro tools. Also the automation is a lot better making it ideal for mixing music. Armin uses the same technique for his ASOT shows if I'm not mistaken

And he was playing Levels back in 2010... He's a smart dude. Bromance was a hit 6 months before he released the vocal version of the track Seek Bromance. Penguin was a hit 6 months before he released Fade to Darkness...

Looks like he's making a studio mix which isn't done live or all in one shot, you save as you go along, can go back, etc. It's mixing that ends up producing an entire arrangement you can then export as audio, and keep as an ableton file to continue to develop and make changes on.

Many DJs use ableton for live mixing as well, and it's done just like it would be with tables, except it's on the computer. Most notable DJ advocate of using Ableton for live performances IMO is John Digweed. It's very powerful software and when you've mastered it to the point he has, you can do amazing things with it. Some key advantages are the precise control it gives you over beat matching, transposing, looping, and sampling
