It was the only closing that could pass as having a good theme and fitting the moral compass (i.e., ending the cycle/breaking the wheel).
Also, based on the track record of the characters, they all ended up where they were for a reason.

I will agree that it wasn't necessarily the best finale, or one that could even be called a "grand" finale, but it is what it is.

Does it leave questions unanswered?
Definitely.
What's the fate of Drogon & Dany's corpse?
Does Arya go on to discover America?

Perhaps there's room for spinoffs in the future.

Now that the throne room is located outside they can make it wheelchair accessible. Not to mention the fact that Drogon destroyed the actual iron throne so he doesn't need to leave his wheelchair! Just roll into place.

I actually liked it, it closed out well. This season has been full of action, each episode could have been a full blown movie!

I'm just glad Arya didn't get the kill on Dany, she didn't deserve the knight king kill....

I'd hardly call last season "great"... Better than this season, I'll give ya that, but certainly not great..

GR is probably having the same issue trying to close all of these characters arcs out that diverage and come back together. Thats why his books are like 1500 pages.

as for this season went way tooo fast. everything about the children of the forest was pretty much avoided. there was so much backstory skipped that a lot of this probably looks like WTF. and the fifth book I put down halfway and stannis baratheon was still alive. I thought the editing was very poor however.

It's sad to see such a great show end with a whimper, but the writers ran out of talent.

I'm surprised to see many people talk about how Jon got screwed. Honestly, he had a great ending. He never wanted to be King, and with the final scene of him going through the wall's gate he's not staying with the Night's Watch. He goes to live with Tormund and the free folk, the Night's Watch stuff was all BS just to appease the Doth and Unsullied (both of which somehow seemed to hit the respawn button lol).

Sansa is such a little bitter beeeyotch though, I never ever liked her throughout the entire series and she was super duper annoying in the final episode. She should have been buried under those bricks and not Cersei!

My big question left remaining is why Drogon didn't burn Jon? I know we've been led to believe that dragons are apparently highly intelligent, did he know Dany had crossed the line? Was he only doing his mother's bidding while she was alive? Sure didn't seem like it had a concept between right/wrong (except when he sort of hesitated burning Varys), so who knows wtf happened there. Why burn the Iron Throne as well unless the beast has critical thinking skills?

Oh well, another great tv show in the books.

€dit: But ya know what, Im really interested why Dany hasnt taken a seat at the iron throne but just touched it? Thats kinda tragic, to face the goal of all fights, lost friends and souls and you just touch it - before you got stabbed.
I would have placed by butt onto it and enjoyed the feeling to sit there. If I got stabbed instead later, bummer, but I had sat there before.

Definitely not a fan of how they had Jon murder Danny like that!! Complete bullshit. She loved that man and in time would have listened to his kindred spirit.
Bran is boring AF. So naturally he was the safe pick. SMFH.

But still.... Absolutely the most Epic Show in television history!

I can hope that the spin-offs come close in entertainment....

Drogon was clearly very distressed when he found his mother had been killed and almost burnt Jon Snow to a crisp, but as you point out Dragons are supposed to be very clever, and I think he realised that it was his mothers obsession with power and getting the iron throne that was the real cause of her demise, so took his anger out on that damn throne. If she had stayed in Meereen as their queen after freeing all the slaves she would most likely still be alive and have her friends by her side and all three dragons!
