I originally thought the RC was an IS coupe but was incorrect.

It uses the GS's chassis forward of the A-pillar, the IS-C's floorpan, and the IS' rear platform. That's why it's so heavy.

With this info, I don't see the M4, ATS-V Coupe, or C63 having a problem outperforming it.

Autocar sums up the car well.

Don't take it to the track, it doesn't do well. It feels heavy and cumbersome. Brakes are dodgy after a few laps. Steering is so-so.

It is a good road car, great build quality and engine/transmission work fantastic. A very comfortable car to drive on the road.

Kind of sounds like an e92 M3 as it is revving, and reviews kind of make it sound like the e92 M3. Brakes are shot after a few laps, and the steering while good is still a bit numb. The e92 faced the same criticisms.

Except they never said don't take the E92 M3 to the track. Rather that car and engine shined at the track. Heavy and cumbersome is not words the come to mind when driving the E92.

The RC-F more reminds of the RS5, just without awd(but with a little more weight). Seems more like a GT car.

If I were spending my money I'd go with the RC-F, exterior wins for me (beauty is in the eye...yada yada), interior is one of the best in class, though the new C is a notch above RC, but the biggest win for me would be long term reliability...love the power of the Germans especially AMG but, the boosted powertrains have not shown to be the most dependable long term.......Now if I had someone else's money to spend I would be in the next C class AMG without a thought......

There was much talk about the RC F's track abilities in Mr Yaguchis's preamble the night before, but it takes just two turns to realise those words were probably unwise. The RC F is a heavy car that struggles to cloak its mass. In terms of direction changes, turn-in and brakes, the new M4 runs rings around it.

Even with a claimed 392lb ft, it seems strangely flat exiting second gear corners, and at no point does the car feel anything like as quick as the BMW. The outgoing C63 507 would disappear in a straight line too.

Most importantly, given the 4,800rpm torque peak, this is a £60,000 hot coupe which could easily be handed some manners by an M235i. And I'm not sure that's the way things should be.

To channel the great R Burgundy - this new Lexus is badly under-gunned. Which in a class that has quietly become a repository for small German muscle cars, is something of a worry.

in the States, you tend to either drive on perfectly smooth surfaces, or completely broken ones. And over the latter it won't come as a surprise to learn that the RC F crashes about.

On the smooth stuff it's firm, but controlled. I'd say it was more supple than an RS4, but less so than an M4 in its Comfort damper setting.

I simply love the cabin - in many ways it represents what I want from a fast Lexus...
But why go to all this effort, then design some special front seats and not allow them to drop low enough? Yep, you sit too high in this car, and that's a big minus-point for me.

BMW can rest easy, and Lexus has probably arrived at a 2014 party in 2008 clothes

lexus > bmw in terms of reliability 100%. ya the car is heavy. but you buy a car because you love looks and how it feels. each has their own opinion. this is a bmw forum of course youre comparing it to a bmw but most people dont really that unless youre a true enthusiast. rc-f will attract small young crowds but more for the older crowds.

Good god. Back on topic. RC-F will likely be a very good sporty GT car. But I have to question whether Lexus tried to pull out all the stops to earn the F badging. I was hoping reviewers would find an ounce of passion that was injected in the LF-A.
