Actually, societal norms are the only thing preventing that. If you ignore them, there are no barriers to doing so. You should consider it - I bet it is a freeing feeling.

In most of those open plan shops, everyone wears headphones or earbuds all day. And nobody talks to anyone else, because they're all desperate for quiet and calm.

As a side effect of the lack of privacy, the shitter stalls in bathrooms were always full. And you never smelled shit, which is a dead giveaway. They weren't shitting. They were texting, or reading email, or otherwise fucking around on their phones. If you actually had to take a shit, it wasn't uncommon for it to take 1/2-hour just to find an open stall. I always headed for the 5th floor because it was predominantly women who worked on that floor.

All of the points made in that Fastcompany article you linked are true. The overriding reason why they all do it is because of the huge real estate cost savings. It makes all the bullshit it brings worthwhile (for the company, not for the employees)

Yeah, I think the huge cost savings are a real motivating factor. Way more employees per square foot, minimal build-out costs because there are fewer walls and no cube partitions or desks. The workspace I was in was roughly 20' x 40' and there were up to 30 of us in there. Compared to 16 or so that would have fit if we'd had 5' x 5' cubes. We had nothing but a dozen or so 8-foot cheap white laminate tables and some cheap chairs.

Last I heard, the application we built was generating $80MM a month in revenue. That's some pretty good ROI, right there.

So here's a confession. After over 2 weeks in the hospital, today they were supposed to move my dad to a rehabilitative facility where he would continue dialysis while starting rehab for his heart and legs as he still can't even walk yet.

I left work to meet him up there, couldn't find him, and found they had placed him in a nursing home that does not cater to diabetic and cardiac rehab patients. No PT work or anything.

I just got back from pretty much putting my foot up the ass of everyone involved. I haven't been this mad in a long time.

The case worker told me that if I didn't calm down, they would have to bring in security. At almost the same time, my brother walked in still in uniform ....and I told the case worker not to bother as I brought my own Sheriff's Deputy.

Needless to say, he is being transferred first thing Monday as everyone was already gone for the weekend.

It probably didnt help that I had been at my old boxing club yesterday to vent, had a workout ...and since I hadn't been in awhile.... I got caught by a solid right hook by a really good fighter that left a cut and "golf ball" sized lump above my left eyebrow.

So I probably looked like a crazy person to them.

But to me....they were as incompetent as they could be as we planned where he was going two days ago.

It killed me leaving him there earlier. But I will be with him the next two days, and I told the case worker I would be there first thing Monday morning to help her facilitate his transfer!

I feel for you brother. I can't even begin to list all the screwed up problems I had with hospitals, doctors and rehab centers with my mom and my dad in their final couple of years (they both passed in 2018). It is unbelievable how the quality of healthcare has tanked over the past 7 or 8 years. I won't even go there with what I think is behind that decline.

I confess that when I walk out to my car in the parking lot, sometimes I'll try to hide from someone looking for a spot. Or walk down the wrong aisle, let them start to follow me, and then suddenly cut through to the next aisle.

I usually save this treatment for people who're driving like douches in the parking lot, or texting while driving, but I find it way more entertaining than I think I should

I realized I don't know how to sell my car - I've never done this before so I have absolutely no clue how to sell a car past the meet up with the guy, get cash etc stage

Do I need to do anything specific with insurance/DMV? In Turkey the plates are on that car until the owner changes it so you give it to the next guy with plates, do i do that?

Basically how do I relieve any ties with a car I don't know pls help

DO NOT leave plates on. Buyer can either flatbed or get his plates before he takes car. Once transaction is done, notify insurance company. Then you either turn in plates or transfer to your new car.

Exactly!

Get the cash or check (make sure that clears), sign over the title. I don't know how it is where you are at, but you could also do this at a Notary Public as they can also generate a generic bill of sale implying that you are selling the car as is.

I just mention it as some places require the Notary signature as a "witness".

These are easy to find, your bank may even offer the service free as mine does.

Then just turn your plates back in to your DMV, and call your insurance company to drop the car from your policy.
