Not sure if you've been looking around as I have (since I don't plan on getting the vaccine until there is more data on long term effects), but there is some interesting stuff coming out of Israel. Part of it is promising, part of it condemns what our politicians are doing. The promising part is the efficacy data on a prelim basis seems to be close to what the drug companies are claiming.

The condemning part is they are saying even with administering the second dose within the timeline specified by the manufacturer, they are seeing about 33% efficacy of the first dose...so it is really the second dose that matters.

Well, yeah, cause it would practically just be us three commenting in it. And we're very civil. You can start one in the regional subforums if you want. But you'd have to tag me in anything I should respond to so that I know it is there.

Frankly, my wife and I are in no rush to get the vaccine. We want to wait and see how effective it is, what the side effects are and how prevalent they are. We are pretty much home bodies now so really low risk for exposure to the virus. Besides, the way the roll out is going it looks like 2022 before we'd even be eligible.

Dude, I flinch like crazy. And usually only rewind it halfway and then hit it again for the last half after I'm a little more mentally prepared lol. I'm not proud of myself, but there it is.

I usually don't go past 5 feet. When I was very young I was running with a loose tape after it broke on a construction. My brother stepped on the trailing edge and it nearly cut my pinky and ring fingers to the bone. I was taken to the hospital and they poked the fat back into the flesh and stitched it up as I watched.

I HATE tape measures.

Yeah, I think its what we are all thinking, least I am...man that edge is sharp, bet if I let it go full reel back it will somehow get to my fingers and literally chop them off like a saw.

I hate appliances, specifically lifting them. For some reason, I have zero luck - I always find something sharp to cut myself with. The last one wasn't an appliance per se, it was just a metal bed frame that I was moving from one area to the other and managed to slice my thumb quite nicely...fortunately no stitches as although it was an inch or so, it was a very sharp cut and didn't rip or anything so it sewed together itself just fine.

But I still have a scar on my other thumb right to the bone where I was helping someone from church move as a teenager and I was lifting their oven out to the truck with someone else. Somehow, again, found the sharp bit on the back of the oven, but it was so sharp I didn't even realize it had cut me.

Wound up cutting me right to the bone and I was carrying the oven out with it on the bone in my thumb without realizing it until I put it down. Had to get stitches for that one, but since it was only a couple of stitches they threw them in without any freezing. Inside I was sort of cursing the doc, but outside I was ok, let's get this over with.

Ugh.

Thumb injuries are the worst. I did myself in with a crinkle cutter on my thumb years ago. Fixed with super glue because you can't really stitch a crinkle cut.

Take a 40' Fat Max and put a light coat of oil on the tape. You'll have to pull out and retract a few times to get the spring oiled too.

Then you pull out 39' and let go.

Speaking from experience it is a widely accepted practice, I could talk about this at length.
