Bought this recently from Vortic Watch Company based in Ft. Collins. They take old pocket watches and recase them into a wrist watch.

This particular one had an engraving on the back of the original case (I have that case) that was given to a gentleman that had hit is 10 yr anniversary with Packard Motor Company in 1948.

They are also coming out with a U.S. manufactured line of watches to help bring back U.S. based watch making. That company is under Colorado Watch Company. Top quality.

This one’s been around the block and has gained some wear over the years but perfect summer piece that only comes out during summer and travel.

I am not a fan of the 6 digit BLRO but give me a 5 digits 16760 or 16710 any day over that and I’ll take it. Hope you find what you love. The reason I got the BLNR is……the colors of BMW 🤣🤣 my childhood passion.

Interesting- what makes you a fan of one and not the other(s)?

My old squadron commander had a 16710 that never really kept good time.

Its the size and weight and that movement is solid.

I dont know about your Squadron Commander but did he ever try to take it for a service to Rolex or to a Specialist watchmaker? The calibre 3185 is pretty solid so im sure his needed some work or a service etc LOL

I prefer the 16760 first because of the thickerr case and old style clasp then a 16710. Im more of a vintage guy. @junglehour on insta

Fair enough. I have one vintage watch (my father's Glycine Airman he purchased while flying in Viet Nam) and I have a couple nice vintage audio pieces (Marantz and KEF).

This was a loooong time ago (mid-'90's) and memory fades, but I remember my Commander telling me that he'd tried to get it serviced and it hadn't helped, but I don't remember the details-- for all I know, he tried to have it serviced locally. He ended up keeping it in a lockbox and never wearing it.

His talking to me about how poorly it kept time stopped me from getting a GMT-II as a "I'm getting out of the AF" present to myself. At the time, I was a young Captain and he was an old and well respected Lt. Col, so I put a lot of weight into his words.

Pity that. In the mid-90's, you could buy a Rolex from AAFES in Germany for a ridiculously low price if you were on a layover and on flight orders.

That's a bit of a regret now, honestly.

Agreed. Thank you for your service. Get a good used one, there are plenty out there. I know they are anywhere from 9-14k but worth it if running well. Or get them serviced from someone like rolliworks.

I've got my name in for a 126710BLRO at my AD. I've picked up four Rolex's from her over the years (40mm 114060 no-date Sub & 126900 Air King for myself and 31mm 277200 OP & 277200 OP Celebration for my wife), so I figure that I'll eventually get "the call".

I'm not in a hurry, so I don't mind waiting.

Each of the watches have been to celebrate an occasion in my wife and I's lives-- the BLRO will be because I get my flight medical back and can get back into the jet.

However, I've heard that the BLRO's are much harder to come across than the BLNR due to Rolex having trouble being consistent with the ceramic red on the Pepsi, so it might be a wait.

You’ll get it! For me it’s the same brother. Every watch I buy is for an occasion because they will never be for sale. If I “sell” them it’ll to a family member like my siblings for what I paid the AD. I despise the flipping and grey market so yeah…..

Can’t wait for you to post pics if your BLRO once you get it and can’t wait got you to get back in that jet!
