instead of having a team of 100 people looking at lines at every corner, if they are really so interested to keep cars within the lines they can either use gravel or put nails on the outside of track. problem solved.

Ricciardo to RB? Nope he remains at the soon to be renamed AT, and Checo drives for RB in '24, even if he doesn't hold on to second in championship. Only if Ricciardo is not fit to drive (with a brutal pre-race test on his hand) then Lawson drives the AT.

Verstappen's streak of titles past, present and future ?

Only the Dutch and Flemish 50+somethings will understand this: remember the child song "Deze vuist op deze vuist" that used to close the Dutch TV child show "De Film van Ome Willem" (70s-80s).

"TREMAYNE: Verstappen can hold his head high in the company of his fellow three-time champion greats"
David Tremayne | 07 October 2023
https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/a...9ok2YlBa3.html

Excerpt:
"Is he now one of the greats? Of course he is. His record since winning his first title in Abu Dhabi back in 2021 has been quite incredible. But it would be quite wrong to put that down purely to the quality of his machinery.
Max is one of the absolute best, as all of the pacemakers of their time were, and if you were to ask me for an example that encapsulates that, I’d look no further than that astonishing first fast lap in Suzuka.
Singapore had been a real shock to Red Bull, and the suggestions about TD18 really hurt. But while everyone else ended up doing laps in the 1m 35s, Max had gone straight out on Honda’s circuit and slammed in a lap of 1m 33.719s. Put that in your pipes and smoke it! Then he dominated the race there. Point made.
If he stopped racing tomorrow he would have established himself as one of history’s greats, but he could easily have at least another 10 years of racing left in him, so imagine where that might end…
I’d like to see how he reacts when (if) Lewis finds himself back in a wholly competitive Mercedes, but right now – with the way he handles himself and his car – he has every right to hold his head high in the company of any of his great predecessors in the sport."

RB wants 1+2 in the driver championship, so they're not going to give up on Checo for 2023.

If he doesn't turn it around and ends up in anything less than 2nd place, I foresee him being gone in 2024, swapped to AT for Ric, with Lawson at the ready to replace Ric at the drop of a hat.

Although, are they going to have as much leeway to swap drivers once it becomes Boss next year?

Maybe the race weekend results of Russell/Hamilton are part of the explanation why Hamilton (soft tires) was so eager to get past Russell (medium tires) and Verstappen (medium tires) in Turn 1 in Lap 1 of the race.

Absolutely won't give up on him for '23 - if they were going to do that would have been at the summer break. He is still P2 and thanks to HAMs once again brilliant wheel to wheel skills he caught a huge break this weekend. Had HAM gained on him hard like he had the opportunity to I think P2 would have been really in question but now going into the homestretch with a decent lead should make it through the next races ok. But I do think he is done for '24 unless he strings a miracle stretch through the end where he is within reason of Max's pace and at worse even with the next fastest cars (likely McLaren but who knows with how up and down teams have been this year). Even that I don't know if it will be enough to keep the seat. At some point they will need the 2nd seat to be a help to the team and offer value. Someone will start to close the performance gap and when that happens they are going to need points/data/strategic advantages out of the 2nd car. I think they have lost faith with PER almost completely at this point. PER cannot drive this car fast at anything less than optimum conditions unfortunately.

Hopefully RBR lets LAW come along properly instead of throwing him right into the fire against VER - that hasn't faired well for any driver. LAW looks to have potential but the kind of soul crushing defeats that VER has given to the 2nd seat really hurts the young guys and takes them awhile to recover after they inevitably get chewed up & spit out. Hopefully RIC can step in and be of some value for awhile LAW cuts his teeth and isn't needed for a couple of years. Have a feeling RIC will know exactly what his job is in the 2nd seat at RBR and what is expected of him - and will happily try to do anything they ask to stay there.

Side note - was hilarious listening to the Sky announcers start to get excited in the last few laps when the gap to PIA from VER was shrinking a bit after VER moved to the new mediums. Was just sitting there going wait for it... wait for it... boom lap 56 pulls 2secs on them with the fastest lap. Dude doesn't just want to win - he wants to absolutely crush the opposition.

Soft tyres or not it was an over-optimistic move from LEW with an almost guaranteed DNF.
