I sadly had to miss qualifying, but what a result.

I'm not sure I like the idea of Max on reds and HAM on yellows.
I understand why RB chose for it, with the reds you virtually guarantee to be first at T1 because of the traction benefit and then of course you control the race.
I think the red tyre will probably give about 0,5s per lap advantage in the best case?

But this probably means Max is going for a 2 stop and HAM for a 1 stop?
An undercut by HAM is at least not possible, so if both go for a 2 stop, Max will still have the tactical advantage up to the 1st stop.

It's going to be an interesting race tomorrow. NOR also on reds, can he overtake HAM with an incredible jumpstart?

So apparently Norris is "a bit nervous" about the start and doesn't want to mingle in the WDC.

Any self respecting race car driver looks at his own performance and results first and not at battles that others do with eachother.
Can you imagine in the past drivers like Senna or Schumacher saying this?!?

Lewis definitely has the upper hand tomorrow with the tire situation, hopefully Max doesn’t try anything dirty with the tire disadvantage and we get a clean race. Shame that Max flat spotted his mediums during Q2 and they had to put him on softs. I wonder how many laps were on his other medium set and if they could’ve used that instead.

If there are any dirty tricks then it's more likely that Ham will introduce those, did you not see Silverstone.

Yes but I think Max is the more desperate of the two here with Lewis clearly having the better pace the past few races and the tire advantage. If they both DNF and the stewards don’t act its Max’s title.

Also a brilliant strategy by RB starting Q3 using Checo to give Max a tow and having him do his quali lap on the third lap and getting the tow back from Max on Max’s in lap. It caught me off guard at first, I thought if there was going to be a tow I thought it would be on the first straight and when I saw how far apart they were after their out lap I thought they were both doing their fast laps until Checo fell behind on the second long straight. Merc screwed up not doing the same

What a lap. On the abandoned 2nd run in Q3, did VER again have the tow? Not sure he did, but was still up on his pole time after sector 2.

His pace through sector 2 (passing sector) looks optimum.

Everyone back to BOT in 6th is on softs. Seems like mega danger zone for HAM from a couple of perspectives. If he gets overtaken at the start, some of the top runners might have enough pace to keep him behind for some laps while VER streaks away (though I think NOR yields).

Risk aversion approach, does HAM shoot for P2 behind VER, bide his time, play the strategy/tire advantage game?

If leading, can VER utilize his initial tire and sector 2 advantages to control the race pace and bring Checo into play?

To be a fly on the wall in the strategy rooms tonight.

The influence that MERC has on other teams that use their engines is real and considerable.
Look at when RB stated that in essence it isn't fair that when a car is crashed by another team so badly it needs a new engine or gearbox, it's not penalty free.
Merc. disagreed and so did the teams that used merc's engines...what a coincidence....

If NOR has this attitude, he automatically abandons hope to win this race. If you can gain a position, you should do it! That should be the attitude of a F1 driver.
The 'teamsport' aspect shouldn't span across teams.

Hams 'rocket' PU is 2 races old and the sell by date on a Merc PU comes five times more quicker than a RB PU.

You should play the video with 0.25 speed ..In the last turn MAX ran in Russian Roulette Mode...
Yes the reds can give MAX a 0.5 sec advantage , this means in normal circumstances a 5 sec. gap after +/- 10 laps ..

MAX ran with extremely low downforce setup to get a higher topspeed as you can see in my video, lower downforce translates in lower tyre wear as well ..
I'm pretty sure MAX will go for the first pitstop ,while Checo runs completely through his softs till HAM has to pit ..
By this HAM comes out behind Checo , from there Checo can pull his emergy brake !
I'm still lost in words by MAX's pole lap , as he runs with a 8 races old HONDA PU while HAM just flies in his Rocketship !
And of course HAM was very disappointed ...

These are just my thoughts how the race scenario can be , and as usual it has to be driven first ...
