The M240i is the least versatile option I would go with owning just one 'do it all vehicle' in Chicago. The back seat is usable in a pinch (and AWD is great for the Midwest).

The ITS has more utility that I need at the moment, but it would be nice to have the option to take other people in it much more easily. The backseat space is huge (37.4" legroom!) as is the hatch.

Honestly depends on where the MSRP comes in. If it somehow comes in at $46.5K it becomes much more of a deal than at $48.5K. That $2K gets you Flashpro and PRL Intercooler/Pipe combo.

Cars these days are like Legos. All they do in an assembly factory is assemble. The parts go on one way. It doesn't matter if the car is assembled in Mexico, Japan, Germany, or the US. If build quality or reliability is poor, that is an engineering parts design issue.

Spotted on the way to dinner in downtown LA on the 6th St Bridge. They stopped traffic momentarily to shoot a commercial for the Type S. Looked really good in person. Sorry, these pics are screen grabs from my wife’s video.

It is. The ITS has the three tailpipes stacked in the center. This vehicle has the oblong tips on each side of the rear bumper.

Yup the TLX being so heavy contributed to it being a major disappointment to me. I was so excited seeing the initial concept design coupled with a 350hp V6 SH-AWD... then it came in at 4,200lbs, getting smoked by the M340i. If you spec them similarly though it's a $7-$8K difference though. The TLX Type S still looks sportier than a M340i and is rarer, but the performance is lacking.

I wish they made an Advance trim or something of the ITS that had SH-AWD and more creature comforts (e.g. moonroof, power passenger seats, rear USB, etc.) It would be a bit heavier, but more practical for those of us that live where it snows. Basically I'm looking for a non-ugly Golf R that I can reliably track and the ITS isn't perfect, but it's the closest option.

Curious to see where the MSRP lands. If it's under $48K they've got a winner in my book. Hopefully they can leverage some savings from it being mass produced in Ohio (vs. the Type R).

I had a 2004 TL that I used as a beater. That generation of TL is still the best IMO

Agree. That generation was the best. We have a very different Acura now. None of their cars appeal to me, at all. Acura has essentially gone the way of Infiniti. They're an afterthought when you think about automotive luxury and performance which is ironic because in their prime years they were able to balance the two incredibly well.

I bought one in 2003 and it was a head turner at the time. Excellent car all around. Nowadays, nothing exciting from Acura

Officially a joke. $50,800 MSRP ($52K delivered). It's literally $100 cheaper than a M240i xDrive. I think the extra $100 is worth it for 100 more hp and AWD haha.

All the nostalgia in the world from my DC5 can't blind me enough to think that's a good deal. I assumed the cost cutting with no sunroof, manual passenger seats, no usb in the rear, etc. was to get it to $48K.

Now any of these I see I will laugh at. Back in the market for a Thundernight B58 in a few years. Forget the practicality, manual, and better sound system in the ITS. Just not worth $52K.

Wow its pricey south of the boarder! 55,600 CAD MSRP, or 41K USD MSRP here..., or about 4k more than the CTR/Golf R

Equivalent M240i here costs 63k here so I guess there is a pretty sizeable gap to the Bimmer here.

I assumed $4K USD more than the CTR, even that was a stretch with no sunroof or AWD, etc. At $7K you're in crackhead territory. It has a nicer sound system, heated seats (that are less bolstered for the track), and no ricer spoiler... how is that +$7K?

In the US the M240i xDrive starts at $50,900... just $100 more than the ITS. Sure I would add on lots of goodies to get it closer to $60K, but even so that's worth it over the ITS at this stage. Acura is officially dead to me, my interest when from 99 to 0.

It's a 15% price premium over the CTR. The a-spec integra with manual trans is a whopping 25% price premium over the Civic SI. So within Honda's own pricing structure, the integra type R is a relative bargain. If anything I'd say the pricing issue is with the CTR as opposed to the Integra. Even if you look at historical price variance between Japanese spec CTR and integra Type R from 97/98, that was a nearly 30% price difference between the two (1.7M yen for CTR vs. 2.2M yen for integra type R).

The issue is, as pointed out, it starts bumping up against superior competitors like an m240i. So Acura REALLY has to market the "practical with a manual trans" angle to keep the integra relevant among competitors.

That they do... but the internet seems very pissed on the Integra forums and fb group thus far. Sidenote, it's an Integra Type S not R. Acura is keeping the S while Honda the R (since 2001).

Wonder if this pumps up the price of my 2006 RSX Type S with a sunroof and just 50k miles haha.

I'm fully back on the BMW train, choo choooo.

Sure the M240i will have a higher maintenance cost, but to me it's actually more practical with a ZF8 in city traffic (and SO, friends, family can drive), AWD for the snow, auto parallel parking, remote start, sunroof, and I can still fit my bike in the rear with the front wheel off.

This isn't surprising, or at least it shouldn't be. I knew the ITS would be >$50K (See Post #255). A lot of folks anchored to ~$48K. Why would they price that car within a few thousand dollars of the CTR? You know Acura is owned by Honda, right? With pricing now confirmed this car is no longer a "better version" than the CTR.

Assuming you are buying, the ITS will more than likely be worth quite a bit more in a few years vs an M240i. So cost of ownership delta quickly favors the ITS (just look at the FK8 CTR vs a comparable year F22 M240i). Don't just look at initial pricing.

$48k v $52k not really much difference for a new car. If you were in at 48k, you are in at 52k. So out over 4k? Never wanted the car or could never afford it anyway IMO. (Not directing this at anyone. Speaking in general)

$48k or 52k for this thing is LOL IMO
