Nice report. Looks like a good quality kit.

I skipped on the Executive Package because I wanted to avoid the sky lounge roof and glass controls, but wanted everything else. Fortunately there’s now a Premium Package that omits those so I started with that and then added all options minus those two and carbon fiber. There’s something that requires premium or executive, I forget it’s either DAPP or M sport pro package, so I’m glad they gave me a way to get everything I wanted and still avoid the panaramic roof.

I did get to see it. The Dealer's spec 530iX had both the SKYLounge and the Glass Controls. I might have gotten the Skylounge if the blind were reversed so it opened from the front instead of the back and the glass was able to open (like in my Mercedes). The Glass controls looked really nice, but in the end, it was just another "If it comes with it, that's ok, but it's just not something I have to have and am willing to pay extra for" thing for me, at least. if I had been budget limited when I bought the car and had to choose between getting the glass controls and roof or something like the 20" Wheels I got instead of the base 19" rims, the rims would have won.

I pried off the knob like in the video, but then realized that it didn't come off anything like in the video. In the video, just the knob comes off and leaves the main console part under it in place. When I pried it off, the whole center portion came up and would not pull away from the console. When I looked at it closely, I could see that the ribbon connector underneath was still connected and I was pulling up the whole center assembly! Fortunately, I was able to position it carefully and push it back into place, but was worried that I may have broken something (fortunately I did not).
Woof. I would have freaked the hell out. Glad you were able to recover.

Heh, this is how I felt after spending 4ish hours putting an aftermarket screen in my F32 when the OEM screen delaminated. Glad I did it, and presumably I'd be better at it now after going through the experience and cross-referencing three different tutorial videos, but hard pass on repeating the experience.

All that said, I really like how yours turned out. In particular, I really like the crystal volume wheel. I didn't even think about that having a crystal variant, looks really nice!

This was my best option I guess. I forgot to mention the other item that is a little annoying - the new crystal roller for the volume is not back-lit, but I think it IS back-lit when ordered from the factory. Other than that and the words on the Start button, it looks identical.
It looks great to me but I would not try to do it myself. Fear of breaking something. I once saw a sign in a repair shop that said something like, "Rates: Repairs: $75/hour/ Repairs of repairs started by others: $125/hr."

That's normally how I feel too, but since two others in the forum have tried it and said it wasn't too bad, I figured I'd try it and turn up my patience meter to high during the process. :-)

Thanks for sharing. Did you look underneath the large rubber mat for the smaller rubber mat, or did you just not put it in yet?

What do you guys use for a trash container in the car? I don't have anything, but thinking something small and tidy might be nice which I would clean out after every trip as needed. Any ideas?

Oooh, that looks pretty convenient! Does it stay in place pretty well if you, uh, drive the BMW like a BMW?

It’s got this adhesive tape that’s on the underside. I have not tried that yet 😂.

That's how I got my center console part - the small rubber mat was underneath the large one for some reason. Glad you have it.

Not aftermarket but has anyone replaced the factory non-stitched steering wheel airbag cover with a stitched one from the M5 or 7er? Curious how much trouble this is.

I see many mud guards for the i5 G60, but nothing for the other 5’s. Aren’t the bodies the same for all the 5’s?

I think that part of the cars are the same. I know some parts are different in different markets - like the Chinese market has the long wheel base version and I think the rear doors are a little longer as a result.

Could you post some links to the product? I'd be interested in checking those out. Thanks.

I love the idea of mud guards, but I'm worried they wouldn't look good on the car. I'd have to see it on a car before I'd consider it. Perhaps you could be the forums first!

A new speaker cover right? Looks nice, simple but classy. Was it easy to install?
