I have an M60 on order and need to lock in my colour choice and torn between Fire (vegas) red or Carbon Black. I know it’s subjective but any thoughts / advice / recommendations? Cheers

I suggest you do what I did:

1. When you're driving around town, look at how many black cars you see, and look at how many red cars you see.
2. Decide whether you want to blend in, or stand out.
3. Pick the color to suit your decision.

Where I live, I'd say 90% or more of the cars are either black, white or some shade of grey. I wanted to stand out from the crowd, so went with Red. I think whatever you choose, you can't go wrong because they all look great once you look at them up close. Every color has it upsides. Also for me, I didn't want too dark a color because it gets very hot here in the summer and the darker colors will get hotter I think.

I’ve got Fire Red M60…some (more often than not) photos show it “redder” than what it actually is….
In real life it’s a more maroon/burnt orange/darker red…so if you can see one in real life first it might be useful.
When it’s clean and in sun it most definitely is a bright red though. And personally I love how it changes shades depending on cleanliness, and our UK weather!

Carbon black is really a very deep blue. If there is sun, it will really come out and not look like a typical black car. I was torn between red and tanzanite blue which is also a dark blue but not as dark as carbon black.

Things like the offset cameras on the body, both front and rear, are not noticeable on a dark color. I have seen a few reviews where people did not like the off center camera positions.

Red and black also look good together.

You can’t go wrong with either.

I had already almost all the colors on various bmws.
Red was nice but it is more a Color for wife.
Black is classic, but I saw many blacks with black seats and it’s sad car. No shades, just like typical FBI car
Tanzanite is beatiful Color, but without sun/in winter it looks really dull, it is like purple. I didn’t like this shade and since Fall and Winter take around 5-6 months this Color didn’t gave its potential.
Carbon black is really nice, classic in dark (black) and blueish in sun. With combination of white/brown seats is really outstanding.

All the choices will be good

OK, my wife chose the color, but I think it's very nice among the normal G60 colors.

That's funny. My wife hated that I got Red. She wanted white. At one point, she even said she won't drive it at all if I get red.

Hmm, I guess that makes me the wife in our family.

Is that what the slit in the side skirt just behind the front wheel is for?

Yes. On some previous models it was in the door, and you can buy replacement lenses for those online. I have yet to see one that is designed for the new 5 series though.

Finally got the windows tinted so I thought I'd post a picture. I went with the 15 tint on back and side windows, 30 on the sunroof (since it's already darker than the rest) and 50 on the windshield.

That should help quite a bit during the hot southern California summers. I like the black/red combo - overall I'm very happy with the look. I went a little out of my comfort zone with the darkness - I probably would have picked a "safer" 30 for the front side windows but I like the same shade all around the sides and decided to go a little darker this time around. Wish me luck that I never get a ticket for the dark tint on the front side windows.

That dark tint is fire on the red.

Looks very good and also goes well with RED.
Unfortunately, like many things, it is forbidden in Germany to darken the three front windows.
