They can't. Checo is there for P2 in the WDC.
Removing him this year, even for 1 race will hinder that.

But for sure next year his seat is in danger.
If there was no Max, you'd think the RB19 was a crap car, or at least 'average' (no better than the merc, ferrari, mclaren or AMR)

They say the RB19 is tuned to Max' preferences, but even if that were true, it wouldn't be 0,7sec+ is qualifying.
Other teams also have different drivers, which each have their preference, so there it's the same issue. But in qualifying, there the difference between drivers is max. 0,3 sec, and usually a lot less (the difference between NOR and PIA was only 0,04sec).

Given the performance of the car in Max' hands, given the mediocre performance of Checo last year, and this year again, if Checo has a seat next year at RB, I think RB takes a huge risk.
Other teams are catching up to the RB19 performance, so an underachieving driver is no guarantee for succes.

I agree Checo should be much higher up but at the start it was murder for him and indeed not doing well in quali he suffered with being hit then reacting the wrong way and with that compounding to make his car undrivable later on with another incident with a Haas.
